Apart from choosing a new name, I've been slathering Germolene on insect bites - how lovely is that? My new name doesn't make one think of Germolene and insect bites! It's the time of year for these and I'm covered in large itchy bumps...grin

jeni hope you feel better this morning. flowers I hope your feet and ankles are better too.

I am in quite a bit of pain today after slipping down the last four stairs and hitting the newel post at the bottom. I now have a sore. head, sore right knee and a quite colourful left hip. Note to self - don't run downstairs wearing socks.

glassortwo Thu 27-Sept-12 07:29:38

jeni I hope you managed to get some sleep and the pain in your legs and ankles is a little easier today. Just think of us lot sat on your shoulder supporting you today and if nothing else the thought of that should make you smile.

Like it bags smile

jeni take us all with you and if anyone gives you grief today, we'll give them the sharp end of our collective tongue! Just imagine all the strong Gransnetters sat around you, making notes and exchanging eye contact with you during your meetings. No-one is going to get to you today [arms folded and a steely glint in the eye emoticon!] grin

I am going to an evening wedding reception tonight of a colleague of my DH and I really really really really dont want to go.

glassortwo Thu 27-Sept-12 09:45:39

I have not regressed into a teenager, but you may think so from that last post grin grin grin grin [dragging feet, head down, shuffling along emoticon]

Grannybug Thu 27-Sept-12 10:45:19

smileGlass.

Ella46 Thu 27-Sept-12 10:55:55

glass I think know you are younger than I am, but I think at this sort of age life is too short to do anything you don't really want to do.
I'm afraid I would be telling DH to go on his own if I felt like you.

GillieB Thu 27-Sept-12 11:20:55

I hope Kitty and Jenny feel better soon.

Kitty - my last fall down the stairs was about five years ago: I fell down two stairs whilst I was carrying a tray with a pot of tea. My DH was away at the time in Paris. I landed in a heap surrounded by tea leaves and couldn't stand up. Fortunately the telephone was close by and I rang my neighbours and they managed to get me up and took me to hospital where I was told that I had broken my right ankle and my left big toe! They actually didn't know what to do with me but in the end gave me a zimmer frame so that I could at least shuffle around. I decided not to tell my husband as he couldn't do anything about it. However, when he rang me from the airport for a lift home, I did tell him that I had had an accident. The big toe still pains me from time to time, although the ankle seems to be ok!

harrigran Thu 27-Sept-12 11:29:55

Glass I know how you feel, I would rather stick rusty pins in my eyes. The last family wedding we went to was at 2pm but we did not get anything to eat until 8.30 I was on the point of going home when they announced that the party was about to start. Alarm bells should have rung when they said the photo shoot would be at the Stadium of Light but reception was the other side of town.

soop Thu 27-Sept-12 14:36:59

glass Plead insanity! Should do the trick. grin

kittylester Thu 27-Sept-12 14:46:48

Upset stomach is my fall back position glass - no-one wants to know you if you are likely to sick on them! grin

Gilly hope that was your last fall down the stairs.

Thank you all for your kind wishes - I'm still hobbling but not getting much sympathy here! Bags, I would normally have slippers on but they were downstairs.

Anyway, I have cheered up because my local Sainsbury's have started stocking a few women's clothes and they were 25% off today. So, I now have 3 new t-shirts which are longer and seem like much better quality than M&S! sunshine

JO4 Thu 27-Sept-12 14:51:52

Glass, is it a buffet? If it is, pile your plate really high, find a corner and enjoy yourself. Just concentrate on the food.

glassortwo Thu 27-Sept-12 14:52:16

kitty my DD has just informed me of the reductions, I can see a trip coming on tomorrow wink. I bought a taupe t shirt in the summer from Sainsburys and the quality has proved better than M&S been washed loads and has not moved and the length is perfect.
I best get off to pick the little ones up but you know I have a strange vague feeling in my tummy......no stop encouraging me if I dont go he wont either so there we go.. maybe an early departure could be on the books though grin

glassortwo Thu 27-Sept-12 14:53:19

jingle I am trying to be very good and loose some weight, tempting though.

soop Thu 27-Sept-12 15:08:59

jeni I'm sorry to hear that you've been going through a tough time.flowers
harri grin
kitty Pleased to learn that you are almost as fit as a flea! You're very lucky to have a Sainsburys and an M&S. We would need to go to Glasgow - a three and a half hour drive each way. envy
Trust Jings to come up with the perfect solution. Why not take a pack of Rennies with you. Eat well, and then complain of severe heartburn. Thank the hosts for their hospitality and make a dignified exit clutching your chest. Who's going to argue with you? hmm
