Yesterday while in the front garden, 2 young lads walked past. One was about 11 and the other about 9. They had a dog on a lead and were carrying a football and some golf clubs, looked like they'd been to the park. Further down the road the dog went on the verge and did a poo. My first thought was that they'd just walk on, whilst an older person would probably clear it up. But the older lad took a plastic bag out of his pocket and spent quite a while cleaning up the mess. Now there was no-one around and it would have been so easy to leave it. It cheered me up to think that they were doing it because it was the right thing to do and not because they had to. Just a little thing, but it did make me smile.smile

soop - I can still feel in my mind my Freddie's silky black fur. It always had such a warm feel to it on a day like today. I suppose the black of it attracted the heat. He didn't mind though. He loved the sun.

Sigh!

My litte grandaughters, 10 1/2 months old, have been introduced to my dog today. It was a great success. We did have to get their socks back off her, as she snaffled them when we put them on the coffee table, and she managed one quick slurp along Alice's leg when she saw an opportunity. The babies sqealed with delight each time she ventured near. Two more little friends to play with when they get bigger. smile

I'm still smiling after having my dgd (11 months) with me since 8.30 am. We've had a lovely day playing and now she's gone, leaving me with a big wet kiss and her scent in my nostrils smile

Ella...that big wet kiss and her scent in your nostrils...wonderful! smile

That's good, Zengran! Hope you're keeping well? I'm smiling today because one of my friends has asked me to go to the ballet (Swan Lake) with her in November at our local theatre. She's been given a pair of tickets by her husband for her birthday, so she could take a pal with her.
Also, there is another frog in our tiny pond....now we have rather a large one and a wee one, both peering out of the water! grin

when I'm dreading her going to nursery in a couple of weeks when her mum has to return to work!
I won't get to see her half as much sad
She (dgd) needs so much stimulation though, it will be good for her in that respect. There's no way I could keep up with her, I'm shattered now!

Enjoy Swan Lake Marelli. I like tom watch ballet, but have never actually seen a "whole" one, probably never will, nobody I know would be interested, well nobody within touching distance anyway!
Soop, love your new photos, so glad you`re back!
I had a little smile after seeing a photo of littlest grandson in his uniform before going off to his first day at "big school". Still wish he was back here with me though! I`m putting the photo onto my profile page.

Ella you will find a way of seeing her at other times, but I know what you mean. I used to collect my grandson early from the nursery a couple of times a week, and mind him till one of the parents arrived. They are exhausting aren't they? Polly and Alice want to jump up and down the whole time, and keep clapping their hands for nursery rhyme repeats. 'Row, row your boat' starts to lose its attraction after the 50th time! grin

Driving to Montreux in lovely sunshine, and meeting up with Annodomini and Greatnan. We visited the castle (remember Byron's 'Prisoner of Chillon'?) followed by a nice lunch. Lovely- thanks for a nice day friends.

using my new slow cooker for the first time, i made leek and potato soup for tea, and very nice to! and then i thought, could have opened a tin and saved 7 hours electricity!just doing my bit for the economy.

Marelli Thu 06-Sept-12 18:36:11

Ah, but so much nicer and more nutritious when it's home-made, matson! smile - and it's not very expensive for a great big container of soup to be cooked in a slow cooker, anyway!
