What's put a smile on your face today?

Yesterday while in the front garden, 2 young lads walked past. One was about 11 and the other about 9. They had a dog on a lead and were carrying a football and some golf clubs, looked like they'd been to the park. Further down the road the dog went on the verge and did a poo. My first thought was that they'd just walk on, whilst an older person would probably clear it up. But the older lad took a plastic bag out of his pocket and spent quite a while cleaning up the mess. Now there was no-one around and it would have been so easy to leave it. It cheered me up to think that they were doing it because it was the right thing to do and not because they had to. Just a little thing, but it did make me smile.smile

Looking after my neighbours toddler this morning, whilst mum went to have her scan (expecting second one in December) - as my grand-children are in the UK, it's lovely to have a surrogate to play with and cuddle from time to time.

The fact that on the "active" list this was directly above Fat Welsh men & women. When I've posted this, of course it wont be.

absentgrana Wed 05-Sept-12 15:04:26

Now we've got another one on the "active list: Today I've been… followed immediately by Booing at the Paralympics.

Marelli and Ella...my days have been spent doing a hundred odd jobs around the house. As soon as the nice young phone engineer said..."That's sorted!" I knew that lovely GN was a must. Down with the duster. Off with the pinny. Bye to the kitchen sink. And, yes, absence really does make the heart grow fonder...

Had 86 emails to wade through on being reconnected to the net. One was a photo of our wee man wearing his new pyjamas. I've uploaded it for you to see. Apparently he was so chuffed with them, he wanted to wear them for nursery school! He's also had a hair cut. Will be seeing him soon. grin

Ella46 Wed 05-Sept-12 16:52:14

soop He made me smile too smile

kittylester Wed 05-Sept-12 16:57:16

Glad to see you back soop

This afternoon I got home earlier than expected so took a cup of tea, a piece of banana cake and the crossword into the garden. The garden was alive with insects and butterflies (well 4 sad) flitting and buzzing from plant to plant so I watched the garden rather than doing the crossword.

Tonight we are going to see Michael MacIntyre (sp?) so I expect that will put a smile on my face too. grin

Today is a good day. flowers for everyone.

soop your adopted cat is the spitting image of my wild black cat that I took in forty-odd years ago! It's uncanny. Could be a reincarnation.

Little fellar is very sweet. smile

Seeing the photo DS3 had uploaded to FB of DH and GS1 'racing' down our garden at the weekend.

Watching my grandaughter (aged 7) training our 2 year old weimaraner to go through her legs as she'd seen Pudsey do on TV.
She's quite small and our dog is very large, but she managed to get Daisy to do it and they both looked so pleased.

soop Thu 06-Sept-12 14:08:02

melp1 grin I can picture the scene.
Thank you for your many lovely comments about our wee man. It does us good to hear how happy he is, in spite of his mummy and daddy being separated. Ever since the big change in his home-life routine, mummy and daddy have pulled together, for wee man's sake. I admire our daughter-in-law for her strength of character. She is such a super girl. LittleNellie ...mummy cut his hair. Yes, for a child of just two and a half, he does seem, in his own words, "all growed up"...
Jings Funny that you you should say that Rory reminds you of your adopted cat. When we lived in Cornwall, we had a beautiful black tom called Hamish. He died before we left for Scotland. On a cold winter day [snow on the ground] a skinny black cat, much like Hamie, wandered through our back garden. The sight of him made me go all misty. Anyway, he kept returning - and the rest is history. We love him to bits. grin

kittylester Thu 06-Sept-12 14:23:42

That is all good to hear soop

Last night Michael McIntyre did make me smile well, actually, guffaw grin

Today I picked Hattie, aged, nearly 4, up from nursery for the first time since the holidays ended. She squealed and said ' I've missed you, Ma'. That gave me a great big smile

soop Thu 06-Sept-12 14:27:14

kitty...love M.M. And yes, your Hattie's greeting was special. smile
