Yesterday while in the front garden, 2 young lads walked past. One was about 11 and the other about 9. They had a dog on a lead and were carrying a football and some golf clubs, looked like they'd been to the park. Further down the road the dog went on the verge and did a poo. My first thought was that they'd just walk on, whilst an older person would probably clear it up. But the older lad took a plastic bag out of his pocket and spent quite a while cleaning up the mess. Now there was no-one around and it would have been so easy to leave it. It cheered me up to think that they were doing it because it was the right thing to do and not because they had to. Just a little thing, but it did make me smile.smile

Walking in the woods and clearings, gathering wild mushrooms where I used to do so with my dad, every since I was a child. He passed away 3 years ago, aged 96, and we last went mushroom picking together when he was 95.
With the kites and buzzards meeewing and soaring over my head, I felt so close to him. And got a big basket full of ceps and millers - he would have been pleased smile

Forgot to mention picking handfuls of great raspberries from the garden, and eating them right there from the bush in the lovely sunshine smile

granjura the first time I saw a kite was in the Jura, but we now have them here in the North east there has been a programme to reintroduce them into the countryside and I now see not one but probably two every day and I stand in awe watching them.

glassortwo, the re-introduction in the UK was such a joy for me. The first time I saw one near Rutland Water, my heart soared and I think I cried. Then of course they became quite common. On our way to grand-children in surrey, we often went via the M40 just to see them. On my return this afternoon, we had two soaring just above our house - love them.

@ Greatnan- the more raspberries we pick, the more come - tons left to ripen, but they will stop if we don't pick (just like dead-heading roses or any flowers). You won't be short smile
