Water babies

I recently went to the seaside with a friend, and it struck me how stark the difference is between those who love being in the water and those who don't. I've never been one to rush into the water: ooh, it's a bit chilly, don't want to get my hair wet, etc etc. But will get in if it's nice and hot and can handle the swimsuit issue (cough cough).

But some people seem to see the water and have some sort of magnetic attraction to it, that I just can't relate to. Do you have it? I don't know why I don't have this urge!

If DD sees water she is in it. As a small child, despite constant supervision, she was continually falling in it and even in her late 30s can disappear into the sea for hours at a time and swims many miles a week at her local pools. She prefers the local lido, when open to a covere pool.

I love swimming, but having spent part of my childhood in the far east, where I learnt to swim, I like the water warm. Love the local indoor pool but stayed resolutely on the beach on a recent holiday in France when DD & DH were cavorting in the (freezing, to me) sea.

GD, aged 5 takes after, well takes after her aunt, and loves the water. Small brother aged 2 can take it or leave it and on balance would prefer to leave it.

I love water but I'm scared of losing my glasses so I'm just a paddler now.

I am one of those who is happiest in or around water. If I go near the sea I want to be in it and can never resist paddling/swimming even if its freezing. Swimming in the river or sea is my favourite place to swim but twice a week in the local pool is what I have to settle for usually. Of course I'm not looking my best in a swimsuit anymore but the love of swimming/water overcomes the sight of my saggy wobbly bits in a cossie.
I don't know what it is although I am a Cancerian a water sign I love to just sit and watch and listen to the waves on the beach or even just watch the current on a river It makes me feel peaceful and happy and relaxed.

I live by the sea, but it's just too cold for a swim to be enjoyable. Instead I swim in the pool at a local hotel and even there I sometimes find the water is too cool. I'm a water wuss I'm afraid.

I enjoy swimming but indoor pool and sea are different experiences. I learned to swim in the sea and as a child was at the beach daily for 3 years so it is always a real pleasure to swim in the sea... used to skinny dip but not now sad

I don't find the need to get in it but I must be able to see it,even if it is only nextdoor's swimming pool. I also like being on it and we had a narrowboat for over 20 years
