Evening all, not sure if this has been done before, or that there may be a similar thread, but here we go;

1) Supermarkets who make their parking spaces just that little bit too small to get ones trolley between cars, meaning that one has to wheel the trolley around and approach from the rear.

2) Bloody silly use of "yourself" or "myself" when either "you" or "me" would be fine. (recent example in a letter, "If you have any queries, do please feel free to get in touch with myself" Aaaaaarrrrgh!

Oh no Bags I should have put a smiley or grin to make it obvious I was being tongue in cheek, as Littlenellie picked up on.

I wonder if anyone else finds themselves oggling younger men sometimes.

absentgrana Mon 24-Sept-12 12:07:23

Bags It's more a question of avoiding taking responsibility in the case of most MPs. John Prescott talked about "what happened" as if his unruly, though apparently inadequate appendage found its own way into committing disorderly activities with his diary secretary and he had no part to play in the whole unsavoury business.

Lilygran Mon 24-Sept-12 12:13:29

Exactly, absent!

Bags Mon 24-Sept-12 12:13:38

Oh, I agree, absent, in most cases, and especially ones like that!

glassortwo Mon 24-Sept-12 12:15:55

To enter a completely empty restaurant , sit at a table .
Only to be told .

Can you please stand at the sign so we can seat you ????

janthea Mon 24-Sept-12 15:59:46

Back to cyclists. I hate those were insist on riding on the pavement even when there are cycle lanes on the roads (put in at great expense by local councils) and the road itself is nearly empty!! I hate those who jump red lights and ignore pedestrian crossings!! angry

kittylester Mon 24-Sept-12 18:19:17

Well said janthea. I found myself apologising for getting in the way of a cyclist in the (pedestrianised) middle of town the other day? confused

Grannyeggs Mon 24-Sept-12 19:00:16

I agree kitty and*janthea*, I was nearly knocked by a cyclist on a pedestrian crossing where everyone else had stopped he then turned round and called me a blankety blank stupid bitch.

NfkDumpling Mon 24-Sept-12 19:08:16

I just wish cyclists, bikers, motorist and well everyone really would just show a bit of forethought and consideration.

janeainsworth Mon 24-Sept-12 19:20:18

Now for something completely different.
I am mildly irritated because I have just made an effort and tried a new recipe (stir fried prawns with pak choi, sugar snap peas and baby corn with rice noodles) only to realise I should have pre-soaked the noodles before adding them to the wok.
Now I am having to steam them in situ and the vegetables will get overcooked.
The recipe didn't say anything about pre-soaking the noodles - I gleaned this, belatedly, from the side of the packet.
Grrrr.

And what about drivers who open the car door without looking for the cyclist coming up on the right?

Bags Mon 24-Sept-12 20:05:49

And the car drivers that come out of a side road and knock you off your bike (wrecking the bike but, fortunately, not you) when you're cycling on the main road. And the car drivers who turn right in front of you and across your perfectly proper path so suddenly that you can't stop in time and crash into the side of them (wrecking the bike but, fortunately, not you), and the bus drivers who stop behind you at a junction but then forget you're there and drive straight into your back wheel(wrecking the bike but, fortunately, not you). And the lorry drivers who are too impatient to wait for a safe overtaking space so just drive too close and shove you into the verge or ditch or curb. And the pedestrians who step out onto the road without looking, or wheel the front of their push-chairs into the road before looking, or they have looked but don't see bikes.

All that has happened to me and yet I never ran a red light or rode without lights when I shouldn't or on pavements when they weren't also designated cycle lanes, or in pedestrianised areas.

Huh! Cyclists ARE NOT WORSE than other road users!

crimson Mon 24-Sept-12 20:08:16

Hasn't rained for ages and now it has [for one day] we're on flood alert.....

annodomini Mon 24-Sept-12 20:08:40

How many lives have you got, Bags? wink

Ana Mon 24-Sept-12 20:22:23

And, more to the point, how many bikes have you got through? confused

Bags Mon 24-Sept-12 20:27:33

Plenty, in both cases! grin It wasn't me who did for the bikes though! Just doing a quick count, I've actually had two stolen, and I think there were five or six others. I still have the latest one.

Oldgreymare Mon 24-Sept-12 20:28:02

A lovely young girl, cycling to work for 'The Big Issue', was mown down and killed by a lorry driver 'who hadn't seen her'.
So while I am on the subject, lorry drivers who get too close behind me when I'm driving, who excede the speed limit on motorways, who drive 'in convoy' and who don't use their kerbside mirrors.

annodomini Mon 24-Sept-12 21:02:46

Drivers who tailgate me in a 30mph area when I am trying NOT to get any more points on my licence.

baublesbanglesandb Mon 24-Sept-12 22:02:25

And what about those people who park their cars on the pavement forcing pedestrians, especially those pushing prams, on to the road? Grrrr

Ella46 Mon 24-Sept-12 22:09:27

Yes Baubles all those!! Pushing a buggy along the pavements is fraught with danger!

glitabo Mon 24-Sept-12 22:41:24

We have has 3 power cuts this evening. It puts everything out, the phone, the internet and SKY+ box when I was recording New tricks. This is annoying, but Not life threatening.

yogagran Mon 24-Sept-12 23:29:40

Motorists who sit in the middle lane of the motorway when the inside lane lane is empty
