"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.

Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12;15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander ***. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day smile smile smile smile

Hope the colour is perfect, you are doing well to have started painting already. sunshine

nellie I have only just caught this thread - many congratulations to you and your family, and welcome to Noah, I know you will enjoy all those very precious momentsflowers

jeni so sorry to hear of your problems - I think all professional people find themselves at some point, on the receiving end of completely unjustified complaints and it is very hurtful even when you know you have done nothing wrong. Unfortunately these days people are encouraged to complain, without ever stopping to think that the person they are complaining about is another person with feelings, or seeing it from their point of view.
I hope you are feeling better today - try to focus on all the good things you have done in your working life, and if as you say, your boss is supportive, it might help to talk it through again with him/her?

jeni Sat 29-Sept-12 09:28:28

Thanks Jane.
When I've had my coffee I'm going to take the bull by the horns and write an answer to the longer complaint. I'll probably feel better when I've done that.
Still feeling weepy but that's probably due to lack of sleep.

annodomini Sat 29-Sept-12 09:42:23

Best get it over with, jeni. Then perhaps you can get some much needed and well deserved rest. I have seen the effects of an unjustified complaint on a very close relative who was devastated and took a long time to recover, even though she knew she was completely innocent and was exonerated without a stain on her record.

jeni Sat 29-Sept-12 11:35:33

Well, I've done them now! As my computer got the sulks and refused to talk to my printer, I had to handwrite them. At the finish my wrist and elbow were clicking and really painful. I hadn't realised the arthritis in my upper limbs was that bad!shock I suppose it's because I'm constantly in pain with my ankles and feet and that takes up all my tony mind!confused

jeni Sat 29-Sept-12 11:36:10

Tiny! Who's tony?

Bags Sat 29-Sept-12 11:40:58

Today I did some housework. And fell over DH's slipper left by the back door. Went sprawling. Luckily the spin dryer took the brunt of it.

And then I moved some bits and pieces on the fireplace to hoover up the summer soot from behind the firescreen. And knocked over my lovely metalwork candle holder breaking the glass inner.

Why didn't I just go for a walk? hmm

annodomini Sat 29-Sept-12 13:30:43

The moral of that is: housework is more trouble than it's worth!

JO4 Sat 29-Sept-12 13:31:37

I know! Thanks. hmm grin

Bread making session with my 4 year old grandsons, who loved playing with the dough (no worries, the dog ate the dough that somehow made its way to the sitting room carpet!). One very large pizza base and a three-legged elephant successfully baked without me being stretchered off. A final flourish before putting the elephant shaped bread in the oven - Dairylea triangle slapped on its tummy! grin They've eaten everything they made smile

Jings you'd have been safer on your bike...hope that you can replace the glass inner. (hug)

Sweet-smelling grandsons have just gone home. Why sweet? They have been testing all my perfumes in the bathroom!! As soon as I heard giggling, I knew it would be mischief. Just recovered the remote mouse for my laptop, which was posted down the radiator cover. Now all I have to find is the dog's collar! grin

soop Sat 29-Sept-12 17:12:45

when...love it!

baublesbanglesandb Sat 29-Sept-12 22:34:45

Took DG to Disney on Ice, left when she had had enough. Had to run the gauntlet of merchandise sellers on the way out...

Dropped her off at home then DH & I went for a curry before going to see Medea at the Citz. Seem to have been doing that for nigh on forty years.

janeainsworth Sat 29-Sept-12 23:35:31

Succeeded in persuading MrA to go dancing tonight. Might have reached the stage of unconscious competence in Foxtrot. It's only taken six years......

Had the man out to measure the study for carpet, how come floor covering for a tiny room costs half as much again as my new large bedroom ? Now I only need two office chairs and we are ready to go. I don't know how it will work with both of us in the same room, maybe I will wear headphones and listen to music while I am on the computer grin
