You know what? This thread gets funnier by the day. A visit to Lil's uplifts the spirits. Love you lot. grin

Pete Wed 10-Oct-12 13:10:31

Luv you also soop....Now get the beer in and stop hogging the fire !! Let the dog see the rabbit as they say..and in this case 'Let the beer see the belly' grin

soop Wed 10-Oct-12 13:20:11

Pete...you rascal! grin

gramps Wed 10-Oct-12 18:17:19

Hiya soop,
Is my mate Pete pestering you again?
'Es a lively lad, full of beans - Watch out when you hear a rumble an' people move away!
A good mate is Pete. There's nothong that I wouldn't do for him, and nothing that 'e wouldn't do for me - so - there's nothing that either of us would do for the other! (Just kiddin') grin

Ana Wed 10-Oct-12 18:19:47

Nothong!? Was that a Freudian slip, gramps? grin

gramps Wed 10-Oct-12 18:28:07

No thong is sort of similar to "nothing", innit?

Perhaps old Freud knew something we don't!

Ana Wed 10-Oct-12 18:29:23

You're incorrigible, gramps! grin

Anne58 Wed 10-Oct-12 19:46:30

Evening all, would just like to say that I was "passing through" earlier, and noticed that some of you (you know who you are) were in at lunchtime!

Now, drinking during the day is only considered socially acceptable under certain circumstances.

Please reassure me that you had only popped for an espresso and a sticky bun?

(I seem to remember hearing that Lil had decided on a spot of diversification, seeing as how the pub trade was suffering as a result of recent changes in the economic climate. I think the phrase used was "hard up against it, but I may have completely the wrong end of the stick)

Ana Wed 10-Oct-12 19:52:08

Phoenix! So that was you 'passing through' and hoovering up two pints of Old Peculier and a packet of Curried Hedgehog crisps as you did so, was it? Gramps thought he'd seen an apparition - he nearly choked on his Ample Bosom!

relichunter Wed 10-Oct-12 19:55:58

hi all first time dont understand it

Anne58 Wed 10-Oct-12 20:00:46

Ana, I was (as I said) only passing through, I definitely did not imbibe or ingest anything!

relichunter, have you ever listened to "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" on radio 4? And if so, heard the round called "Mornington Crescent" ?

Ana Wed 10-Oct-12 20:19:54

phoenix, I was obviously confusing you with the Hooded Claw, who haunts these premises on a regular basis.....poor gramps was right!

Pete Wed 10-Oct-12 22:22:56

pheonix, Sampling a couple of Ample Bosoms in the day time is more than acceptable...socially or otherwise wink

Ana I don't like ordering Old Peculier 'cos if you say it too loud half the 'snug' think your talking about them.. grin

Ana Wed 10-Oct-12 22:28:49

grin Well we do tend to attract a 'peculier' type of clientele...

Pete Wed 10-Oct-12 22:38:21

True enough and more by the day...wink
Large neat vodka is it ana......only the two of us in tonight..nice warm log-fire do you fancy a ......game of darts? grin

Ana Wed 10-Oct-12 22:50:24

No, sorry, left my lucky arrers at home Pete - think I'll just curl up with a good book (NO, not that one, might get me into all sorts of trouble...hmm)

merlotgran Wed 10-Oct-12 23:14:33

Sorry to barge in on your cosy twosome, Pete and Ana but I'm being chased by an angry badger from another thread. I need a quick wine before bed as I need to be up early to try and bake petit fours like Brendan. I've decided my hair could do with a perm but according to another thread you can't buy TWINK anymore confused. I think I need a lie in tomorrow with a good book but I've finished The Song Of Achilles so maybe I need to take up knitting? DH says I'm suffering from Gransnet overload? I think he needs to get back in his shed.

Pete Wed 10-Oct-12 23:19:20

OK, Think the 'log-end' needs soaking anyway! smile

Pete Wed 10-Oct-12 23:22:37

Think you need a large one merlot never mind a 'quick one'...Cheers grin

Ana Wed 10-Oct-12 23:28:42

Merlot, you've come to the right place! Angry badgers can't get past Lil's bouncers and I'm sure gramps found a stash of Twink in the cellar recently - might be dodgy though....

Pete Thu 11-Oct-12 12:13:04

Angry badgers?...Luckily I've never bumped into an angry badger but did come across a friendly beaver a while back smile
Ample Bosom, please Lil, as its past midday!...do you have any 'espresso' and sticky buns, (steady Lil!), in case phoenix passes through grin

merlotgran Thu 11-Oct-12 14:31:16

Thanks for the Twink, gramps. It didn't just make my hair curl, it stripped the old black stain off the floorboards, unblocked the kitchen sink and DH is now using it to clean the slabs on the patio.....Bargain! grin

Pete Thu 11-Oct-12 18:44:33

Wow, you could be onto summat here gramps. Best sort Ana out! (with commission) ...Happy Days smile

merlotgran Thu 11-Oct-12 18:48:28
