I just caught the tail end of this today.

Did he leave or was he pushed, although it might have been gently.

I ask the question not in a naughty way, I simply don't know the truth having missed half the story.

Anyway , heard it on the tail end of " five live" , so guess we will have to wait and see what transpires in the next couple of days .
He is now over forty though and whilst he was under contract to Godolphin had to go where they sent him , he perhaps feels he wants to be free lance .
Will watch this space with interest .

It seems Frankie, although 'senior' jockey at Godolphin, was losing good rides to two up-and-coming stable stars. Reports suggests he was unhappy, not unnaturally, to have lost top spot at Godolphin and going freelance will enable him to ride for other stables. The relationship at Godolphin has worked well for both sides but it looks as though it had run out of steam.

I've only had a couple of and I'm looking at a thread about Frankie. Thought it was a typo and we were still talking about yesterday's winner but lo and behold Frankel comes up with the answer. What a clever horse.

It's been on the cards for a while, I guess. As a jockey he went up in my estimation when Lester Piggott, when asked which current jockey he would want to ride a horse of his in the Derby, replied 'Dettori'. I don't like the other side of him, though..the one the camera doesn't see when he's sulking about something. And, whenever another jockey does well he always makes a point of getting in on the limelight. I do regret, though, being at York one day and missing his 'flying dismount'. My non racing friend had the foresight to leg it over to the paddock and see it. Wonder if he's riding for Godolphin in the Melbourne Cup? And, will he ride more for Coolmore? I just love the intrigues of the racing world; y'can keep yer soaps.

Defo' got the impression at the beginning of the season that Frankie was being 'edged out' in favour of the young bloods Barcelona/ Buick ???? Then he had a good win and seemed to get a few more rides, but it fizzled out.

Now Frankel, what a horse!!!

So glad that Henry Cecil was well enough to be at Ascot tho'.

According to todays paper , he will be seeing his contract out till the end of the year .

So he will be riding in California and Melbourne . I think he is a great character , and even if he does have sulky moments so what . !

I agree Nonu, whenever I've seen him, if someone calls his name, he has always acknowledged them with a beaming smile!

I wonder what weight he rides at these days? It's going to be interesting next season because he's not going to drive to Catterick to ride a no hoper in the 3.35. He's also got a point to prove. Godolphin horses seem to be very in and out, form wise [although they do very well at Nottingham]. Having the opportunity to ride for aother trainers could prove a bit of a renaissance for him. I bet Marwan Koukash will give him plenty of rides on his horses.

True, Crimson. I've not seen him at Bath or Salisbury and I suppose he'll continue to give them a miss. I do remember a very young and very tiny William Buick at Bath a few years ago, he looked far too young to be out on his own .
Mind you A.P. took rides all over the place!

Crimson: Frankie's lowest racing weight over the past 12 months was 8st 5lbs - and, recently, he's been riding for trainers like Ed Dunlop, Marco Botti and Ann Duffield, as well as Saeed Bin Suroor. I hope he does well - and doesn't go down the same bumpy road as Fallon.

William Buick looks a bit like my son, so I tend to have a soft spot for him. Even more so after the terrible shooting in Norway when he was visibly upset by it. The one I can't stand is Ryan Moore; I thought he was just very shy, but supposedly he just can't be bothered to talk to interviewers and such like. For a Champion Jockey that's appaling imo. I adore Graham Lee and am so chuffed to see him doing well on the flat; he just seems to care so much for the horses that he rides. But Liam [twinkly teeth] Treadwell is my favourite and I'm so happy he won the National even though he's still having to work at all the gaff tracks. I never forgave McCoy for walking away from a stricken horse once; it was a long time ago but things like that stay with me I'm afraid.

I lost much of my previously strong interest in racing after Fallon failed to win on Ballinger Ridge at Lingfield in 2004. He received a 21 days ban. The grainy youtube video doesn't really do justice to his riding of the horse on the day. www.youtube.com/watch?v=D48WDjruPx8

Cannot believe this, Dettori was reported by the FRA , following a test in test in September , that he has used a banned substance .

It's not easy doing a job that means you have to spend most of your life feeling hungry. And, on top of that, finding your employers are slowly replacing you with younger people.

Oh dear it is not looking good for Frankie .

It seems he is looking at a 6 month ban if it forwarded to the disciplinary committee .

Now he has severed relationships with Godolphin , a long absence from the saddle could threaten his future .

Still he has made a good amount of money , but it would be a shame if he went out like this .

Will put paid to him doing media work as well. He is a dope; the French are much stricter when it comes to drug testing [I think that's where Fallon got found out]. I've never been a big fan of Frankie, but he is is a master of his trade and it's sad to see him go out like this. Although, when he comes back he might come back with a lot more fire in his belly. I hope he does. I never got to see his flying dismount .

crimson what are your thoughts on Hayley Turner? (and Amy Ryan, Cathy Gannon et al come to that)
