Drying washing indoors

is this ridiculous or is it just me?

I thought dryness of the air was the problem in centrally heated homes? I've always thought drying the washing indoors in the Winter must be helpful.

I fond Modern washing machines tend to spin clothes quite dry. I have an overhead airier that I use when the weather is bad and would not be without it - much cheaper than putting the tumbler on.
