Jane x to you and the parents of the soldier

Join the club OGM - realised this morning that it is 10 days away. Have been in date denial throughout December.
But must check front path, guttering etc. Have to say a bit of space rock would be a fantastic seasonal gift!
(Unless it was like the ones I saw in Perth museum - big lumps of iron the size of a dustbin. Would not want a very hot one of those landing on the roof at terminal velocity!)

I've just had a lovely long Skype with dd and DGD. I won't be able to again until I return! I'm apparently googrey!confused it's the nearest she can get to granny, the other one is grandma which I'd prefer, or perhaps grandmere! But I'm googrey!

Lovely to skype GC!

I have spent the day at GS's 4th birthday party - I am on my knees! But it was great fun.

Exhausting but happy day Christmas shopping with DD1. I continue to be overjoyed that she moved back from Northern Ireland five years ago and now lives a couple of miles away. Our other children and grandchildren live three hours away in opposite directions so it's lovely to be able to share the build up to Christmas with somebody close. grin sunshine

I baked my Christmas treat cake called "Berliner Brot." Cinnamoned Flour, sugar, grated chocolate, cut mixed peel, chopped nuts, sherry and "pear and apple spread." (Very concentrated juices of the fruit.) This beats mince pies any day.

I had just put the mixture in the oven when I realised I had forgotten the Pear and apple spread. I yanked it out again poured it back in the bowl and whisked that in. Its going to be wait and see.
In the mean time I had rescued the kitchen timer from upstairs but I have now lost it completely. ?The dishwasher or the compost bin. It's not in the mixture itself though.

nelliem, please put the recipe in the recopes section. I'd love to have a go at Berliner Brot!

jeni Sat 15-Dec-12 21:05:16

bags. Just seen the statue of Diana that used to be in Maddison square gardens. She's nude with a bow! Is this what you mean by barebow archery?

Bags Sat 15-Dec-12 21:14:21

grin wink

(that's a very weird bow she has)

jeni Sat 15-Dec-12 21:18:07

It's a type of recurred bow isn't it?

jeni Sat 15-Dec-12 21:18:23

I typed recurved!

Bags Sat 15-Dec-12 21:20:14

Yes, recurve, but any bow whose limbs bent that much would be useless. Artistic licence, I suppose.

jeni Sat 15-Dec-12 21:23:55

So's her figure I think!

Bags Sat 15-Dec-12 21:25:55

yes.

Bags Sat 15-Dec-12 21:28:04

And drawing the bowstring that far back is daft. It might cut her ear off, apart from anything else. And she wouldn't be able to do that standing on one leg.

The artist knew nothing about archery, one surmises, and not much about female anatomy.

Glad that's sorted smile

jeni Sat 15-Dec-12 21:29:36

Well I'm to bed. I must start packing tomorrow and even the thought of it makes me exhausted.
Do you think 4 suitcases will be enough for 18 days?hmm

jeni Sat 15-Dec-12 21:29:47

Bags Sat 15-Dec-12 21:31:26

Sleep tight moon

jeni Sat 15-Dec-12 21:31:30

Bags Sat 15-Dec-12 21:32:26

You probably shouldn't! You'll have nightmares! grin

I woke up to cooked sausages made by my son as he is staying for the weekend with my grandchild, then took my Grandchild to collect conquers from the park,,, then went to the swing park and came back and spent best part of the day clearing up, washing up etc, I made stir fry for Tea, Oh and forgot to mention that I managed a shop in between all that!!!!--feel quite happy today because its nice to spend time with my son and granchild and I feel that I am re gaining control of my eating....Lets see what tommorow brings, more good things God willing......

annodomini Sat 15-Dec-12 22:00:08

Cheelu, what a satisfying day. flowers

CHEELU Sat 15-Dec-12 22:08:31

Thanks annodomini, have you had a nice day

annodomini Sat 15-Dec-12 22:25:33

hmm I've spent most of the day intending to do things and then putting them off. But I must get the cards into the post on Monday or they won't get anywhere for Christmas.shock I did do a bit of Waitrose shopping because I had a money off voucher if I spent over £40 - so I got in supplies for when my sister and BiL come for New Year - mostly liquid supplies, of course.

I gave the two fingered salute to a bunch of London motorists. Now grandsons know how to give two fingered salutes. They also know about the one finger salute that we got given back to us. And their vocabulary has expanded considerably.

Such fun.
