Bags And all! My "Berliner Brot", Fruity, nutty, chocolately, cake recipe as mentioned several posts down the list is now cut and pasted into Christmas Recipes. in the Recipe section.

My SIL got the recipe when living in Germany, and used to make it at Christmas. I loved it so much I have now been making it for years.
enjoy. wine or brew goes well.

I get days like that annodomini, I took to writing things down to force myself to do things....

Sook Sat 15-Dec-12 23:08:33

Lunch on the Quayside with sister and BIL, not too busy, I think everyone was shopping in the city centre. Last time I will see my sister this year because both of us will be off visiting family.
Rang my elder sister to wish her a happy birthday, 72 today, she was baking for a tea party she was giving this afternoon. I never get to see her on her birthday as she lives in Germany.

Sat down at 9 to watch the last ever two episodes of The Killing; 9.30 power cut. To add insult to injury my house was the only house in my street that was affected. Power came back on just as The Killing had ended. Don't want to watch it on iplayer as want to watch it in comfort. The perfect end to what has been a lousy week sad.

harrigran Sat 15-Dec-12 23:39:13

crimson I hate it when that happens. I lost some programmes this week because I forgot the electrician had turned the power off to do some work.

Diana with a bow??? I was wondering why anyone would tie a ribbon around a nude statue.
It is surely time for bed!

It's a beautiful morning here in Cheshire with glorious sunshine and just the hint of a breeze. Hope it lasts smile

jeni Sun 16-Dec-12 12:31:14

Lovely morning here. I've been watching the local lifeboat performing man overboard practice! I'm glad I'm not the 'man' it took at least 1/4 hour!

I've now packed one case the one with the evening dresses in. I suppose I ought to think about day dresses and undies as well.?

Riverwalk Sun 16-Dec-12 12:39:34

Multiple cases jeni sounds very decadent .... where are you going?

Yes undies would be a good idea, in case of emergency grin

jeni Sun 16-Dec-12 12:47:21

18 days on the Queen Elizabeth from Southampton to Southampton.

But we do go via Cadiz, Oporto, Lisbon, Rome, Piraeus, Gibraltar, Barcelona and Vigo.
It's not going to be very warm so ineed jumpers and things as well as evening dresses, cocktail dresses and 'elegant casual' whatever that is?confused

I'm hoping its as as much fun as it was last year when we we had George McGavin from the lost land of series on our table! We were the noisiest table and got complained about, but it was great.

I just wish all of my friends from GN could be with me to share it.
I will drink a toast to you at new year!wine

jeni Sun 16-Dec-12 13:53:52

Feeling virtuous! Packed day clothes. Only undies, belts bags, nightwear, hair things, toiletries, medicines and jewlery to go. Oh and shoes and paints and swimming things! Help I'm running out of cases!shock

crimson Sun 16-Dec-12 14:15:56

I'm worrying about number. Have we heard from her since her grandson's nativity on Wednesday? Hope everything's ok.

annodomini Sun 16-Dec-12 14:35:32

She posted on the thread about bickering today. Don't worry, crimson.

annodomini Sun 16-Dec-12 14:45:52

Lovely day here, though the sun is going behind the rooftops now. I went down to Styal Mill primarily to go to the NT shop. Struck it lucky as they had reduced lots of their stock, including calendars. They also had some pretty planters reduced by 30% so I bought one as a gift and one for me. A profitable outing indeed.

crimson Sun 16-Dec-12 14:45:55

Thanks anno; must have missed it smile.

Posted a parcel. Moved a pile of wood from the woodshed to the wash-house. Had the inevitable nosebleed. Made a brew (with teabag today!). About to eat two chocs. Chocs are good for nosebleeds, aren't they?

kittylester Tue 18-Dec-12 10:54:06

To be honest, I'm not sure two will be enough, Bags. Have a few more to be certain. grin
