C'mon let's stick up for the over 50s. Who are your heart-throbs. Let's say over 50. Preferably well over. And alive!

For me:
Helen Mirren
Albert Finney
Charlotte Rampling
Joan Bakewell
Clive James (I hope he's still alive!)
Anthony Hopkins
Felicity Kendal
Harry Belafonte (he doesn't need to sing)
James Dyson (Designer)
Richard Rogers (Architect)

Now that would be the basis for a fun party! Now where's that thread on favourite cocktail recipes?

I live a sheltered life grin But nobody controls what goes on in my head; certainly I don't! gringrin

James Dyson? Would he be the one who took jobs from UK employees because he could pay less overseas?

Nanadog Wed 07-Nov-12 08:02:20

Yes the one who had to launch his Dyson in Japan as no manufacturer or distributor would handle his product in the UK, as it would disturb the valuable market for replacement dust bags. Dirt bags! hmm

Have to add the dreaded Richard Dawkins to your list isthis
As Glenda Slagg might say, Mmmmmm..... You can come and convert me any time grin

janeainsworth Wed 07-Nov-12 08:10:04

And John Suchet

Nanadog Wed 07-Nov-12 08:15:53

Hugh Laurie. Love a man that can laugh at himself.

Gagagran Wed 07-Nov-12 08:24:42

Just had five enjoyable minutes drawing up my party list - not sure if all over 50 but I can overlook that! Also I'm not having a lot of female competition as "it's my party and I'll ... if I want to"

Michel Roux ( can supervise catering)
Andre Rieu (bring his fiddle)
John Sheahan + fiddle (Dubliners)
George Alagiah (brings some gravitas)
Craig Revel-Horwood (bring some gossip)
George Clooney (Just bring his gorgeousness)
Dawn French +
Jennifer Saunders and
Ade Edmondson (for the humour)
Frankie Dettori (to keep the party going)

janeainsworth Wed 07-Nov-12 08:29:13

gagagran I used to love that song - Lesley Gore. Reminds me of the fourth form grin

Nelliemoser Wed 07-Nov-12 08:43:41

How old is presenter Neil Oliver with the gorgeous eyes?

isthisallthereis Wed 07-Nov-12 08:44:34

Gagagran - what a great party! smile

Greatnan Yes Dyson shifted his manufacturing to Malaysia but he still employs a large number of design and development folk here. A large number. All highly paid.

We live in the real world. No rose-tinted spectacles please. If he choice was between shifting manufacture or going under, which do you think he should have done? And reduced profitability can lead to bankrupt companies. I don't like it either but it's how capitalism works.

Anyway this thread was about tastiness, not morality. I'm not sure I want everyone at my do to be thoroughly moral! [devilish emoticon]

janeainsworth Wed 07-Nov-12 08:46:54
