I hate shopping

But DH loves it. This is good.

Yesterday, while in town on an orthodontist visit with DD, we popped into a good outdoor kit shop – she needs a winter coat/jacket. She's at that awkward age of being just about into extra small adult sizes. Anyway, we found the perfect mountainwear jacket but the price made me faint on the spot (so to speak) so we left the shop feeling pale.

Mentioned the problem to DH in the evening. He got searching online, called DD to assess/choose/be advised and found what was needed. They were happy spending half an evening doing this.

Next time I'll just leave them to it.

That was aimed at Barrow and Maniac..... sorry!

OGM that sounds like the ideal shopping trip. grin I was thinking about going to the Christmas markets today in Manchester but it's far too wet an miserable. Went last year and didn't buy much - stollen, which I eventually ate, to the detriment of my waistline - but enjoyed the sights and smells of continental Christmas. GD took my arm and guided me round - didn't half make me feel elderly.

Yes OGM I would be up for a non-shopping trip to Harvey Nicks

Ariadne Mon 26-Nov-12 04:58:11

Morning, Maniac! Can I come too? smile

Oldgreymare Mon 26-Nov-12 10:00:07

Right! A non-shopping trip to Harvey Nicks..... any more takers?
Do we brave the pre-Christmas rush? I'm sure we could find a quiet time of day when shoppers are dormant!

Afternoon tea at Harvey Nicks sounds very inviting indeed,Mr.G. is under the impression he has stood outside shops waiting for me for 30 of the 40ish years that I have known him,he must be mistaken I am sure it is more than that.grin
I have done most of my shopping this year on line at least you know something is in stock before you get your hopes set on a particular gift,as soon as the parcel arrives I wrap it and tag it so not a big amount to do all at once in Christmas week.

OGM and I are referring to the Bristol branch of Harvey-Nicks.-Might be a long way for Ariadne and others!

I wish my OH could see your post,Absentgrana. He thinks I'm the only woman on the planet who hates shopping. I have been known to leave a trolley in the supermarket when I've seen the queue.
I'm very lucky that he does all the cooking, so therefore, all the shopping.

Now if we all went to our nearest branch of Harvey Nicks for afternoon tea at the same time on the same day, we could send psychic vibes around the country...or am I just nuts? No, don't answer that. grin

Ana Tue 27-Nov-12 13:02:10

Goodness knows how many miles some of us would have to travel to get to it, though....shock

annodomini Tue 27-Nov-12 13:04:13

Ah, then you would need to have a cream tea at home, ana.

I love a mooch around the shops. Sometimes you need to see things in 'real life' and not a photo. Nothing beats discovering something that you didn't know you needed! However, I do a lot of online shopping to save time. grin

Ariadne how are you finding the shopping now you're in Devon? Morrisons is already a pain, and as for the new layout........

Oldgreymare Wed 28-Nov-12 09:39:10

Anno I had the same thought! We would have to include other venues (mustn't advertise) but what about the ones that rhyme with Hettys, Porchester, Bits, or any venue of your choosing!
The thought of GNs raising a cup of the old Rosie Lee all at the same time seems quite appealing. Do you think it might cause the earth to move?

Almost certainly, OGM. smile
