She's such a self-publicist ..... but love her or hate her, she's very entertaining!

This morning on Woman's Hour during a discussion on power being an aphrodisiac - this time it was women in power .... all the usual rubbish about Alan Clarke and Mitterand find Mrs Thatcher sexy.

Currie said that John Major was originally attracted to her because at the start of their affair she was in a more senior position than he (she was minister for eggs or something) confused. She went on to say that when trying to become a candidate, selection committees turned her down for being pretty so she had to tone it down a bit!

So ella how about the likes of Ian Hislop. He certainly has zero in the looks department, but he has a twinkle and is a good laugh?

Will re-address that question to greatnan as she's up and posting...

Oh, yes, I would take Ian any time (or Paul Merton!) My all time favourite man has to be David Attenborough and although he was (still is) a handsome man, it is his personality that attracts me so much. Similarly, I could forgive Gregory Peck for his good looks because he was such a fine person. Sean Connery believes a man should be able to hit his wife, so his good looks count for nothing.

I always thought Barbara Streisand was beautiful with her high cheekbones.

Edwina Currie exudes confidence, misplaced some may say smile I think many men find that attractive, a woman who would take the lead in matters sexual and lead them to previously unknown heights of pleasure. Or maybe I'm overthinking it...

Greatnan; have you been watching the programmes about David Attenborough? I mean, how gorgeous was he when he was younger blush! Although, I've often read that, over the years he has been awful to interview, being very difficult and prickly. Sel; don't think about it it; it's not a pleasant thought sad. Many years ago there was a lady who went to my local pub and another lady mentioned how attractive men found her [she wasn't pretty at all, and I'm sure she used to sit in the pub knitting, which is a bit of a passion killer, unless one has fantasies about the French Revolution] and, since then I've often wondered what men find attractive in women. Spent a week on holiday in a hotel where we palled up with the most beautiful lady, but it was only on the last night when she appeared wearing make up that my husband noticed her beauty. My daughter and I had been in awe of her all week.
