Hi phoenix
I am sorry to hear about your son, In some ways it is worse than the passing of my wife and father,
My father death was really old age and my wife was cancer. She was a non smoker.
I must say volunteering with Cancer Research UK has supported me much more than the berieved club.
Oddly enough my wife and myself were CRUK volunteers for years prior to my wife getting cancer.
At least I am doing my bit to help future people and hopefully to prevent / cure cancer in the future.
I mainly volunteer with Race for Life and various walks.
My favourite event is Relay for Life which I attend as a supporter and put a candle on the track in memory of my wife each year and donate some money.
This event brings us all together to remind us we are not alone and does raise some funds for research.
We have our 1 minute silence just before night fall which is the only time nobody is on the track where various stories are told about cancer.
I am pleased we are now getting more survivors candels by the year.
I also put a candle on the track on behalf of my father.
He did not pass away with cancer but he volunteered for years so in my view he isd entitled to his place.
Frank
