Just to let you know our dog has had his first boxing day walk. We hope he will be able to go again today.
He met 2 new Doggy friends and they got on well.
Unfortunately they were only visiting friends and will be going home tomorrow.

What a lovely happy post nanapug, best wishes to you and your Family for 2003..

We had a very quiet Christmas day on our own which was strange but quite ok, and then today both DDs were here. DD1 is married with three children and DD2 has a son (she is divorced) and has recently found a nice man who has a daughter. They came too and it was a very successful day. All the children were lovely together and the new little one fitted in beautifully. It was as I had 5 GCs. She is a sweet little thing, very well behaved and loving. I hope that this may be a happy future for DD2......

flowers to those who have had a Christmas tinged with sadness.

A crazy day here yesterday but fun. Today a total contrast as I am on my own after a houseful of 10 yesterday! OH gone to Norwich for football, DDs with other family today!

Here, Boxing Day is pretty much like Christmas Day without the pressies, but the turkey is cold, not hot. I was rather looking forward to a lounge about, do nowt much day tomorrow, apart from preparing stuff for the family descending on Friday, but we`ve just been invited to eldest son`s for tea, so will be hard pushed to get everything ready now, but then again, a meal that I haven`t made to look forward to......lovely!

Loads of flowers to all with sad times, thoughtless partners and selfish children. Here's to happier times ahead. Lovely day yesterday but I love Boxing Day best, no deadlines and everyone can do and eat what they like. Two Grandchildren, one daughter one son and one DIL still here and no tears yet, although DIL pensive and a bit sad. Their baby was due in The New Year but sadly the little darling, Annie, arrived early, in September, and only survived two hours. I think they are both dreading the due date in a week or so's time.
Despite the underlying sadness, we have had a good Christmas.

jeni grin
I usually have an open house on Boxing Day but DD and I made an executive decision to go to a local pub for a meal, we said anyone that wanted to come can join in so we have just got back and have had a lovely afternoon... no dishes and I have had a glass or two and have had the best day, played with the DGC all afternoon instead of rushing around preparing and serving food... its the way to go next year grin

spindrift that was rather selfish of your dd, I hope you're not feeling worse today on your own.
It is rather a non day today, flowers sunshine

Anne58 Wed 26-Dec-12 17:47:33

Happy Boxmas to all, with every good wish that it will be/has been a good day.

spindrift my thoughts are with youflowers

Had a nice day yesterday. Today very quiet. Just relaxed.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to get a taxi into Athens to see the new national museum.
I hope there are no riots!
If you see a white haired gran on a scooter leading them on tv?
Guess who?grin

The Asian family whose party I went to yesterday brought me some pudding round [as we'd missed the meal]. I was really touched by the gesture and can't wait to eat some tonight. There are some lovely people around smile. Going to watch the programme about The Moomins on BBC4 tonight. It's been a strange Christmas but, all in all rather pleasant.

Non engaging OHs and thoughtless daughters?! Oooooh that sounds familiar!!!!
Oh feeling lonley in your own home with OH there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kittylester Wed 26-Dec-12 16:25:19

(((hugs))) spindrift That sounds selfish of your daughter but I wonder if she, too, was finding it difficult. Very thoughtless though! flowers

whenim64 Wed 26-Dec-12 16:21:49

Spindrift I hope the new year is going to be much better for you flowers

Nelliemoser Wed 26-Dec-12 16:08:21

Spindrift That is very unfair. (((hugs)))

wisewoman Wed 26-Dec-12 15:20:43

Spindrift how difficult for you. Sending you a big hug and flowers. You would think at 44 your daughter would be a bit less selfish.

Ana Wed 26-Dec-12 15:05:46

Spindrift...flowers

Spindrift Wed 26-Dec-12 15:03:41

Bought all the food, wine everything needed for Christmas, cooked yesterday, daughter (aged 44) popped across (she lives in a mobile home I have here) to have her meal, then left leaving evereything for me to clear up as usual, her new boyfriend was coming up, they are joined at the hip at the moment, so as usual spent most of the day by myself, my first real Christmas without my hubby, he died 20th December last year, so not really a jolly time at all, boyfriend still here so I said I am not cooking, you can take food with you if you want, they weren't going to come here & eat anyway.
Hope you all had a great Christmas & that the New year will be good to you, onwards & upwards as they say

cheelu Wed 26-Dec-12 14:32:20

Funny thing is is that's what I liked about him when I first met him, the fact that he was quite!

cheelu Wed 26-Dec-12 14:31:02

Hi Nellimoser my husband is a bit like that, non engaging and I used to get quite upset and irritated because I felt that there was no point of being with him...It caused countless of arguments, then I just accepted that this is his way, he is like that with everyone, so things better now that I have accepted it....

Nelliemoser Wed 26-Dec-12 13:36:39

Sbagran Thanks for understanding. flowers

kittylester Wed 26-Dec-12 13:14:48

From me too, Sbagran. Barrow and nellie flowers

I love Boxing Day! Nothing to do except make bubble and squeak and put anything else lying around in the pantry cupboard, fridge and work surfaces onto the table! Bliss smile

Happy Boxing Day to all!! wine
