Another driech, miserable, wet day here today so popped on to Gransnet and what do I find - more doom, gloom, bad news and health problems. So in an attempt to cheer us up I thought I would start a 'Review of the Year' thread to celebrate the highspots of the year past - only good things allowed (unless the bad ones are really funny with hindsight). Here goes with mine.

A brilliant sunny sunshine week with all 9 of us in a holiday cottage on Barra. Flew in a small plane and landed on shell beach, returned on ferry in a force 9 gale, which I loved grin

The Simon Bolivar/Big Noise Concert at Raploch, Stirling, in torrential rain but a wonderful, unforgettable experience. smile

Two DGC started primary school and youngest started nursery school. All so grown up, proud and smart in their school uniforms. Later 3 x magical nativity performances where they positively shone.

AND 3 x Gransnet Meet-ups - I cannot explain why these are such joyful occasions, can only say that I find myself grinning from ear to lug and can't stop. It is as if characters from a favourite book have come to life and you can chat with them and hug them - A M A Z I N G - grin

Visited my DD in Brussels four times this year.
Spent a lazy fortnight with my sister and brother in law in France.
Attended two Gransnet meet ups.
Had a wonderful weekend catching up with DH's ex workmates in Helensburgh.
Had loads of wonderful times with GC and laughed until I cried at the hilarious things they say.

Marelli it's good to count your blessings, isn't it? Of course there are always things that aren't as one might wish but DS1 is doing well so that is a huge blessing. sunshine

Going to see the family down under.
The Olympics! (Going to the first day of the Athletics and seeing the wonderful job that was done of the Olympic Park)
Visiting the Basque region with DH - first foreign holiday together for a long time.
Staying healthy - not something one can take for granted post 60.
Getting the darn book completed.
Meeting some lovely GNners - and GN generally. Keeps me sane.

Being able to enjoy the company of good friends, having my lovely family visiting whenever they can, (not easy they are all busy), and I still have a husband who although a pain in the backside on occasions has given me 60 years of memories to share and laugh at when we both get a bit down. Happy New Year to you all, I don't contribute much to the threads, but reading them is enlightening.

PRINTMISS, Happy New Year (when it comes) to you too. sunshineflowers

To be honest, the only highlight that I can think of was the addition of Digby to our household, he has brought us a lot of pleasure, big soppy mog that he is!

kittylester Mon 31-Dec-12 10:43:17

phoenix your posts have given me a lot of smiles this year (not all of them sad) so thank you for that and good luck in 2013 with the job hunting - still think you should do a blog or something. [fwine]

My highlight was my first grandchild. The little fellow is now three months old smiley and very vocal, all those lovely soft coos and excited happy squeals.
(I may think differently when he is older!)
He knows how to be really charming, but needs to learn to take his naps other than in his mums arms.smile

In a year that really was dragged along the bottom of the 'pit', my only joy (but a huge one) has been my favourite baby.
She has kept me going and been the light of my life. sunshine

See her gorgeous grin on the latest pic on my profile grin

Beautiful Ella. Such a lovely smile. There are such lovely photos of the grandchildren on here. I've managed to put a photo of my grandaughters on my profile. Struggling to get them on at present, takes ages, but will try and put more on there.
