Decorations down and away!

Christmas decorations all down, in the box and in the loft! But I did buy some half price Christmas Cards this morning!

Christmas cake all gone! problem is, I think I'm the only one who ate it

We wind all sets of lights round the cardboard tubes from wrapping paper. I think we are probably still using the same tubes from about 6 years ago!

Done! The house has been de-christmassed

I wind the lights like a ball of wool, never have any problems unwinding them.

Just put all decorations etc upstairs waiting for DH to put into the roof. Amazing amount of dust everywhere now!
We always try and get them down before 6th and I have to clear cards to give me space for my birthday cards... Well, less birthday than Christmas cards anyway!

All I need to do now is somehow to untangle a length of tinsel from the living room light fitting and check up on who sent me Christmas cards and whom I can take off next year's list.

Everything away now . House looks quite bare but in a pleasant sort of way .

DP and I have spent today arguing if it should be the 5th or 6th! 1 believe it is the 6th as many countries do celebrate this date as 12th night. I like to keep them as long as possible as they never go up until just before Christmas

Well, I'm just contemplating taking my bling down for another year. I am now wishing I accepted the 5th as Twelfth Night as it would all have been done. The bit I'm really dreading is dragging our oversized tree through to the back yard via the kitchen, and the traditional stripping off of needles as it squeezes past the white goods and sweeps precious china from every surface. Followed by my other half's asthmatic wheezing after I've swept up said needles along with the 12 days of Christmas dust. Then the final hoovering and the traditional unblocking of the needle-congested vacuum cleaner....

I've got a 'pretend' tree that's so realistic it sheds just a few needles each year. How cool isthat . I've got most things down; could take days/weeks/months before it all works it's way into the loft, though.

I have been looking up Epiphany and Twelfth Night on Wiki and am more confused now than when I started!

crimson - is it actually supposed to do that? Shed needles, I mean?
I find tinsel is the worst, I'll be finding little bits of glittery stuff that the hoover's missed for months now...

It's only a few needles and I feel quite good having to get the vacuum out!

I couldn't find the tinsel this year so just used those red bead things. So no tinsel problem.

Crib now down and put away so Christmas is officially over in this house! . Dentist and hygienist tomorrow (ouch!) and then it is back into the normal routine once more or happy?

I gritted my teeth and managed to get my decs from the spare room into the loft.
I was dreading it, as my last sortie into the loft was when a dead mouse (in trap) fell on my head when I pulled the trapdoor down!

anno, Ana gave me a lot of guidance on when 12th night is/was . Hence, I had my decorations down a couple of days before I would normally do. I'm very superstitious and am still quaking at what may befall me.....

Marelli, it's OK to take the decorations down before 12th night. Just not after it. So you'll be fine...
