What other forums do you read/belong to other than specialist ones? Do they always descend into anarchy?

Hello kissygrandma, say what you like, we are not a mean lot, I promise you flowers

whenim64 Wed 23-Jan-13 19:08:51

Welcome kissygrandma. Why don't you have a look around and visit a few different threads, old and new, to get a feel of what Gransnet is like? It's a supportive, friendly place with some feisty people who are there to provide support, entertainment and lots of good advce and ideas smile

Bruha Wed 23-Jan-13 19:23:48

Oh dear I've been misread again I did not mean Grasnet Pet Forum was cliquey it was some other forums for Dogs I tried. Off course people who have been on forums for a long time know each other so it more easy to for them to chat together. I think I will lurk a bit so I don't cause any more misunderstandings blush

glassortwo Wed 23-Jan-13 19:26:58

bruha no dont lurk join in. You have taken the step now you cant go back to lurking. smile

Ana Wed 23-Jan-13 19:28:16

Bruha, I don't know why that happened - perhaps sometimes people don't read the posts properly. You made it quite clear that you were talking about another forum which seemed a bit cliquey - please don't go back to lurking! smile

Hello and welcome kissy ( I actually enjoyed typing that and am a bit envious of the name envy).
Elegran has made some very perceptive observations with which I agree. I joined GN right at the beginning and have enjoyed 'meeting' posters both old and new and I expect I will continue to do so. In my own day to day life I often feel as if I'm living in a soap opera, so I don't need any additional stress/angst/drama. I therefore usually choose to participate in threads that steer clear of those posts/topics that might engender such a response in me. I am very fond of Gransnet and feel privileged to have such an enormously wide circle of wise and supportive friends, but also recognise that there are bound to be ups and downs from time to time. smile

Just seen Bruha's message - stay with it Bruha, just keep on posting. smile

Butty Wed 23-Jan-13 19:31:25

I agree with glass, bruha - join in. I have made angry posts, sentimental posts, embarrassing posts, boring posts, insightful posts - the whole range. Find you feet and go with it.

Welcome kissy

Hi Kissy
Welcome. We're a nice bunch on the whole. Like any family we get' hissy' moments, but apart from the 'serious' threads we are a very supportive and occasionally zany and mad bunch![smile\
