Good news. The ladies only classes have stopped at my leisure centre.

Myself and a few other men have complained to our local leisure centre about classes which only ladies can use.
Our argument was they were not providing men only classes and if the ladies wanted ladies only classes without equivalent men only classes the ladies which use these classes should pay extra as it is a council leisure centre for everybody to use.
They have done a survey and found that none of the ladies going to these classes were bothered about men being in them.
As far as I am concerned any ladies who want ladies only classes should go to private gyms.
The membership fees are a lot higher than the local leisure centre but that is their problem.

Why?

Hi Absent

I think it would be more difficult to make a class women only if there are men in it who go on a regular basis.
If no men attend a class if the council decides it wants some women only classes again it could probably make one of those classes women only on the basis that nobody would be affected.
That said there could always be a man intending to join the next week.

OOOer Frank, heaven help us if women could ever be alone together without a man to make sure they were not getting up to anything subversive!!

jeni Fri 01-Feb-13 09:45:15

Sounds as though Frank is a bit too anxious not to let any women only classes on a point of principle

Hi HildaW

Does it matter about having a woman being alone together?.
Thinking back most of the offices I worked in had mainly female staff. I did work in an office for about a year where there were about 20 men and 1 woman at the start but there were 3 women at the end of the year.
Women were welcome to work there but at the time very few applied.
About a year ago I heard there were 7 women and 14 men working in that office.
I have mainly been in a female environment as I has my wife and 2 daughters and I have now got 3 granddaughters.
I have got another grandchild due in March and I will not complain if it is another girl.

So does that (your post of Thu 31-Jan-13 20:55:33) mean that you are on a guerrilla project to infiltrate as many women-only courses as you can Frank ? Watch out, your motives could be misinterpreted .....

gracesmum Fri 01-Feb-13 12:02:30

Or just being a spoilsport?

gracesmum Fri 01-Feb-13 12:05:31

Feeel free to join our village pub knitting group - all ladies, known colloquially as Stitch 'n Bitch - you clearly enjoy airing your somewhat reactionary ohauvinistic unconventional views.......hmm

I have visions of Frank and his pals (real or imaginary) dressing up Ninja style to infilltrate leisure centres up and down the country. His next step will be to try the local WIs! Then as soon as a sees three or more women gossiping at a bus stop he'll be in there to add his 'manly' views! I shall be looking over my shoulder from now on!!

There are not enough men at the Centre I go to to infilltrate leisure centres up and down the country but I can remember 5 in London at the time I was there.
