Bizarre meals.

I leave home for over six weeks on Sunday, so I am trying to use up the contents of my freezer and fridge. This involves eating strange combinations, but it is quite interesting. Today I used up the rest of my frozen prawns by adding them to a packet of Thai fish soup.
I have no fresh fish or meat left, but a tin of corned beef and two tins of sardines, and a brown loaf, and some potatoes, yoghurts, and six eggs.
I will try to find some imaginative ways of using them up.

Scrambled eggs on toast
yogurt either for breakfast or as puds

I think you're in danger of running out before Sunday!!grin

I can have porridge for breakfast, but I can't do corned beef hash without onions. I will have it just sliced with brown sauce, mashed potatoes, and a tin of petit pois and carrots.
Definitely sardines on toast and scrambled egg, with the last of the grated cheese I have just found in a packet!
A couple of the potatoes are big enough to bake - that would use up the butter too.
I have had my walking curtailed for most of the week because it has snowed heavily every day - I did manage an hour between flurries today. I put on about 5 lbs. over Christmas, so eating scratch meals might help me get back in shape!

Ah......Bez just mentioned chips - a good way to use up the last of the mayonnaise! I can't remember whether it is better to cut them very thinly, into rounds, sticks, or quite chunky. I will use sunflower oil.

Thick chips absorb less oil than skinny ones.

Ooooh! Chips and mayo. One of my guilty pleasures. Chunky chips are supposed to be better if you are weight watching. wink

Thanks, chunky chips it is - I have the smallest chip pan in the world, so I will be having only about 10 anyway.

Potatoes in all forms and bread are my weaknesses - I never eat cakes, biscuits or sweets, so I claim the right to indulge myself on carbs!

With you as far as potatoes are concerned and would love to have the bread, cake biscuits etc but I'm gluten intolerant. Chip butties would be my down fall.

Ahhh....chip butties. Got to be white bread, slathered with butter and liberally sprinkled with salt. Best eaten in front of the TV in your PJs and dressing gown! grin

It is either vinegar or mayonnaise and the vinegar will keep! I don't eat white bread, except as baguette, so it won't be chip butties, just chips with a couple of slices of corned beef and a tin of peas and carrots. Oh, yes......

I definately like mayo with chips. A habit I aquired on a trip to Holland. I have a very naughty egg and chips for lunch a couple of times a month. OH dissaproves which makes me even keener on it.

Greatnan how about one of those Spanish ?Frittata things. As sort of fry up with potato, veg, or left over whatevers, with an omlette mix poured over it.

More appetising in the eating than in my description!

Now I am thinking wistfully of a Holland's Steak Pudding, with lots of gravy and mushy peas - even though I don't like chip shop chips!

Nelli - I was thinking of making a risotto, as I always have rice in. I have found a tin of tuna as well, so tomorrow night it could be a baked potato with tuna mayonnaise. I think I could live for a week with what I have in store - there are two microwaveable chilli con carni meals and several cartons of soup, macaroni and grated cheese for a sauce......
When the snow started I began stocking up, which was just as well as it has snowed heavily for the last three days and I would have had to dig my car out of about six feet of snow.
