'Enoch and Eli and the barge' and 'Butty and the towpath'? Sounds like somethink outta that ther Bible book - Nors Awk wern it?

A barge is a canal boat and the Butty is the cargo container towed behind the barge. They were usually horse drawn. Through canal tunnels such as the Dudley tunnel, they footed the boat through, while the horse went the overland route!

..I'd have let the horse lie down on the barge .....

Galen that's interesting. I wonder how 'Butty' came to be another (slang, I believe) word for sandwich (usually chip) any ideas????
