When in the Guides I liked to carry the flag on parade. On a windy occasion I did a good imitation of Mary Poppins...all of a flurry! I seem to recall inviting one of the village lads in to set off a small firework behind the stage. I was severely castigated. Fair enough! blush

I was sixer of the Kelpies in the Brownies and rose to be PL of the Honesty patrol. Ran a Rangers group at the school in Kenya.

I was a Spritely Sprite, Brave and helpful, like a Knight!!

Then in E Africa I was a Kishigi (a bird I recall)

As a guide I was in Speedwell when at boarding school and then a Rose when parents returned to UK and I went to local school.

Dad said I had to make a choice..only allowed out on either Friday (guides) or Saturday (friends & BOYS!) but not both as needed to do my homework! Guess what I chose to give up????

Yes, I was a Speedwell in the guides. Thanks for jogging my memory, nanaej

Off to a Thinking Day Church Parade flag-bearing practice shortly. Cubs are very enthusiastic about being flag-bearers and I always have to make a choice (usually the biggest because the flag we have harks back to the days when they'd be eleven or twelve; now it's nine year olds and the thing's too big for them; Group Scout Leader won't hear of using a lighter pole #stubborn), but apparently none of the scouts who were at the scout meeting last night wants to be flag bearer for scouts. I wonder if the scout leader has solved the problem? #nothingtodowithme

The rehearsal involves me sitting around being encouraging hmm
