…the first day of spring according to the Meteorological Office. I don't know about the weather where you are but it's like mid-winter here.

… International Happiness Day

…and also Budget Day.

Enough said.

soop Wed 20-Mar-13 16:54:18

Have just this minute received a most favourable response from a builder. Early days, I know, but we're both uplifted. May need to celebrate with a wee dram later. grin

Dark grey sky in Cheshire but not raining or snowing. Are you in the frozen north east absent ?

harrigran Wed 20-Mar-13 12:57:34

Oh for goodness sake hmm

Anne58 Wed 20-Mar-13 12:24:18

Dagenham.

Notso Wed 20-Mar-13 12:15:31

Write to the Palace Frank and get them to send you a couple of packets of crisps. That'll even things up a bit.

soop Wed 20-Mar-13 12:12:17

Frank Without your hourly input, this forum would seem almost sane. grin

Ariadne Wed 20-Mar-13 11:47:10

ana grin

What a left wing point of view from Frank; I'd never have put him down as a republican! Mind you, it's still about money...

Ana Wed 20-Mar-13 11:44:35

Who's Annie?

Elegran Wed 20-Mar-13 11:40:16

They could squeeze quite a few holidays out of that £300,000, Frank The imterest on it would be something like £8,000 to £9,000 a year.

HUNTERF Wed 20-Mar-13 11:32:21

Annie

A million £'s is not much these days.
You only have to be 60 with a £20,000 per annum occupational pension which has a value of £400,000 as you are expected to live 20 years after 60 for pension purpose, a house worth £300,000 and savings of £300,000 and you are a millionaire.
A lot of people have got that but they are not in a position to go on an exotic holiday for example 4 times a year.

Frank

Ana Wed 20-Mar-13 11:15:16

Does it work that way, though? You mean millionaires might be paying £1 or even more a year towards the upkeep of the royals?

HUNTERF Wed 20-Mar-13 11:10:57

Hi Notso

Again I don't want to pay.
I am a pensioner but some of my pension is taxed at 40% so I think I am paying more than 55p.

moomin Wed 20-Mar-13 11:07:05

Dunno Frank I talk tosh quite a lot (in my opinion) smile

Elegran Wed 20-Mar-13 11:05:14

If the roads had not been closed you could have joined the cavalcade, Frank

So could a million other cars and lorries. That would have successfully jammed up the whole shebang, and the rest of London too.

It wasn't closed for the wedding guests, it was so that the inevitable traffic jams were at least partly under control. Blame all the idiots who would certainly have tried to get their fifteen minutes of fame.

Notso Wed 20-Mar-13 11:00:44

Might be 55p then Frank. It all adds up.

HUNTERF Wed 20-Mar-13 10:58:27

Notso

The Royal Family must cost me more than 52p as I pay above average tax.
I would rather spend it on a couple of packets of chrisps or a can of dog food for Andie.

Frank

HUNTERF Wed 20-Mar-13 10:56:08

moomin

Nobody talks tosh in their own opinion.

Frank

HUNTERF Wed 20-Mar-13 10:54:37

Ana

No but I wanted to drive my car on the roads in London on the roads which were blocked off at the time of the recent Royal Wedding and my friend wanted to drive his lorry behind my car.

Frank

HUNTERF Wed 20-Mar-13 10:51:46

Sack George Osborne if he tries to spend any money without my approval.

Frank

Notso Wed 20-Mar-13 10:51:01

Wow Frank! How would you spend the 52p a year in tax the Royal Family cost you each year? Have you got a list? Maybe put it towards that house on your other thread?

moomin Wed 20-Mar-13 10:48:51

Frank, I'm afraid you talk absolute tosh (in my humble opinion smile)
