Soop is cut off!

I've just had a phone call from Soop in snowy Kintyre - they have no power, haven't had for several days and Kintyre is completely cut off by snow.

They have a little single ring camping gas stove and Mr S managed to get to the local store yesterday so they have supplies. The telephone lines are down and there is no mobile signal. They have some type telephone which plugs straight into the line (?) which she called me on.

Soop sounds really well, in good spirits but misses her GNet fix. On the plus side she says her house is spotless!

Rory is doing well and is thoroughly spoiled by the sounds of things grin

Anyhoo Soop sends her best wishes to 'you lot' x

Thanks, baubles, it's good to know they're all coping so well - hope soop isn't cut off from her 'fix' for too long! smile

Thanks baubles from me also our soop is missed and she will be spending a day or two catching up on the threads,is Bags cut off also she is not too far from soop so would imagine the same?

I guessed there was a problem with the weather, soop not usually missing for days on end. Let's hope everything gets back to normal very soon.

At least it sounds as if she is OK. Good thing they get on so well, imagine being stuck in with so meone difficult!

Bags if off scouting.

annodomini Sun 24-Mar-13 13:02:46

Scouting? In this weather?

baubles Sun 24-Mar-13 13:27:24

Both Soop and Bags are hardy souls. I don't know if Bags is under canvas but Soop is almost camping. {takes more than a bit of snow to dampen her spirits!} grin

Seriously though I hope all Gnetters are managing to cope with the weather conditions.

Oldgreymare Sun 24-Mar-13 14:11:46

Gosh.... do you think Bags was dib dib dobbing with the Duchess? (Somewhere in the Lake District).
Keep warm Soop and Bags and all others marooned by the weather. GS walked thro' snowdrifts to get home after a sleep-over!

Grannyeggs Sun 24-Mar-13 14:50:20

soop and Bags hope you are keeping warm and dry and look forward to having you back on here.[St Bernard with barrel round neck emoticon]

Make some nice hot soup soop!

NfkDumpling Sun 24-Mar-13 21:11:37

Hope they're all ok. Roll on spring!

Marelli Sun 24-Mar-13 21:27:53

Thanks baubles! They really are having it hard down in the Kintyre area, according to our news. sad

Bags Mon 25-Mar-13 10:27:01

soop just rang. She expects they will be cut off until Thursday at least sad Meanwhile the community spirit is robust smile Today, police cars are taking people to shops because the local shop has no power and no way of getting new supplies, nor of keeping things fresh if they could. Rory is still not using his injured leg but seems otherwise content. soop thinks it might have been a mink that attacked him.

It does sound a little bit fun tbh.

No! I know I'm not there!

Gets on one's wick after a while, jings, especially being cold. I'm SO glad our main electricity lines were put underground last year. Before that we had more power cuts in six years than in the rest of our combined livetimes!

Saw Kintyre on the news last night, though no sighting of Mr. and Mrs. Soop, and I will confess to being a teensy bit envious for just a little of the snow they're having. Here in Devon we've not had even a hint of snow.

whenim64 Mon 25-Mar-13 10:50:08

Thanks or the update Bags. It's not often that one hears of altercations between minks and cats - poor Rory!

harrigran Mon 25-Mar-13 11:00:39

jingl not fun at all when temperature does not climb above freezing. We do not have the snow but it has struggled to get above 1C for the last month.
I have lived through times when we had ice on the inside of windows and you could see your breath when you stuck your nose out of the blankets. Whole house heated by one coal fire, I never want to return to those days.

annodomini Mon 25-Mar-13 11:09:30

The thermometer at my back door has climbed to 3 Celsius. Does that mean it's spring? grin

Ella46 Mon 25-Mar-13 11:12:59

It's lovely and sunny here, but the wind is whistling down my chimney despite the fact that I've blocked it off! Not funny, I look like a bag lady when I'm slobbing on the sofa!

whenim64 Mon 25-Mar-13 11:18:16

It's lovely here, just a few miles from ella and * anno*. My back garden is enclosed by fences and outhouses, so is actually warm, even though the wind is blowing the trees around sunshine

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 11:23:49

That's it granny-a Others seem to be getting the more exciting weather. But I do know it wouldn't be exciting for long!

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 11:24:54

Ella grin (and sympathy!)

j08 Mon 25-Mar-13 11:25:40

Our weather is just cold, grey, bleak, nothing. Bit sad making.
