I was always a bit surprised by people who wanted genital surgery, because it had never even crossed my mind to look, let alone compare mine with anyone else's. I think I grew out of that sort of thing by the time I was 6.

Deedaa that reminds me of an embarrassing moment... I had a tear repair after DD1 was born. It was quite bad and it was surgery rather than just stitches. Some years later having laser treatment for some pre-cancerous cells the young (male) doctor asked me conversationally...'and does your scar here bother you?' Well I'd never seen it and no-one else had complained!!

They can be tender and give dyspareunia!

I agree FlicketyB that or they are too squeamish about REAL women and body hair. Makes me shudder to think of it. If it's not broke don't fix it I say.

His sheltered upbringing meant he had only seen naked women in pictures, suitable devoid of any visible genitals, let alone pubic hair. She went on to marry Millais and have 8 children.

Personally, I am not in the habit of examining other women's genitals, online or anywhere else, so I have no idea what 'normal' looks like. mine have served me, as they are, quite satisfactorily and without complaint, from them or anybody else for 70 years so I have no plans to find out.

used to have a bikini wax - just because I didn't like the "spiders" coming out of cozzie!! Hadn't a clue what a vajacial was - or indeed how to pronounce it - till I read an article in last Sunday's magazine. Now that I know, I'm not rushing anywhere to have it done (and suspect I wouldn't have 20 years ago either)

I have just read the original article and I started to think of the campaign against female circumcision, a barbaric practice forced upon women in some areas of the world.

I suddenly saw the similarities. In both cases women's genitals are being mutilated to please men. I know one is voluntary and one is done under duress, but how soon before a woman has it done to keep her man, as the saying goes. Is that not under duress? How can we take the high moral ground about one set of women being genitally mutilated, while other women are doing it voluntarily?

FGM is a vile practice. I once went on a course about it and despite it being illegal there have been no prosecutions.

Mm when did my training we were taught bikini waxes brazilian etc but I hated giving them and do not now!

Personally a sensitive hair removing cream is far kinder if a lady wants feel confident in swimsuit!

I cannot understand this interest in pubic hair removal. I've never experienced any problems with mine either personally or from a partner.
I'm certain it is a consequence of the ready availability of porn.

I was an antenatal teacher in the 80s and 90s and we all bemoaned the degrading and disempowering act which still prevailed in some less enlightened birthing establishments of insisting that women were pubic hairless when giving birth. Women and their partners felt very indignant about this practice.

I've got a scar from my daughter's birth nanaej which used to split open if sex was too energetic (chance would be a fine thing now) and be sore for a couple of days. When I had my son the doctor was sewing me up and I complemented him on his technique. The midwife said "It's because his hobby is leatherwork" I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not but I never had any trouble with his scar.

A young doctor sewed me up after having my first child. At his side was a senior nurse and the doctor kept checking with her as to whether he was doing it right. Needless to say, the stitches were far too tight and I was in severe discomfort for the whole week I was in hospital and felt too sick to eat properly. When a nurse came to remove them (painfully) before I was discharged she said with incredulity "Who did this?

Ha Ha Ha! I didn't know what vajacial was so asked DH if he knew and he said he did (but he got it a bit mixed up, I looked it up) I haven't had a wax in that area ever and am quite sure that it would look horrible if I did. I think anyone who feels they need to go through this torture for somebody else's pleasure (?) needs empowerment lessons (if there is such a thing) Anyway thanks Gransnet for the education, very illuminating

I wouldn't dream of shaving 'down there'. I don't even shave under the armpits. I do shave my legs up to the knees in the summer though.

It occurred to me whilst strolling the venerable Waitrose aisles just now that the joke would work better if the pervert had used the 'c' word instead of ass but maybe that was too strong to post on Facebook.
