Today I have been mainly Vol. 6

I have always liked this thread, so here I am resurrecting it!

Today I have mainly been eating, drinking and sleeping, then eating....

Such decadence! Lunchtime drinks at the Yacht club, watching the gaffer (DGD explained what it meant) racing and the sun glinting on the water, then home for a bite, then a snooze...what a life. How lovely today was.

Ariadne - We have the log fire this evening. So cosy. It's wet, damp, chilly and miserable outside. Is it May???

kittylester Thu 09-May-13 17:16:21

It is May - I'm sure someone said so!

Today, I saw Mum's consultant and, once Mum has had a further assessment (Decision Assessment Tool!!!!) we can look at suitable homes and she can move out of hospital. Apart from it being good for Mum to get out of the hospital, I shall be so glad not to have to visit the dementia unit ever again. She has yet another bladder infection sad and it is resistant to the two types of antibiotics usually used.

Mum was very nice to me today confused

Heating back on and the woodburner, too, this afternoon. Heavy rain and winds whipping through the woods, and the birds were all circling frantically. Just been out in the garden and it's drying up! Make your mind up!, May! grin

nanaej Thu 09-May-13 17:56:32

Might put the woodburner on here too! Very blustery and damp! I was just thinking last night i might swap the duvet for the lightweight one..but i will wait a bit longer!

Today I've cycled 28 miles along the Danube, through the loveliest Austrian landscape - pretty little towns, and the most impressive Bavarian gorges. The weather is amazing, and apart from a slightly tender derrière, really enjoying our first cycling holiday!

whenim64 Thu 09-May-13 19:04:09

It sounds like you're having a great time, Hummingbird.smile

Butty Thu 09-May-13 20:45:07

Hummingbird - Sounds a wonderful holiday. Continue to enjoy, sore bot or not. smile

Ariadne Fri 10-May-13 09:10:01

hummingbird that sounds wonderful. Hope the derrière is recovered?

kittylester Sun 12-May-13 11:15:11

This had disappeared again Ariadne!

Yesterday, because DH likes to make sure he has explored all possibilities, we went to from North Leicestershire to Wales to look at some sofas!! confused

We will still have the one we originally decided upon but you have to be sure don't you!!grin

I also like this thread. Thanks Ariadne...

Mr soop playing Diabelli's Sonatinas on the piano.

Rory asleep in my chair. He's such a fussy, loving cat since "the snip", sits on our laps and purrs loudly. Allows us to pick him up...hard to believe that he's the same cat that attacked me and growled at the postman. Will add some amusing images of him when I've mastered the process of uploading photos.

I'm enjoying painting another watercolour of Lucy. The main portrait is with the gallery for mounting. The additional painting will be a gift for Butty smile

Dog & I have walked about 9 miles.

About the halfway mark I reminded myself of the old adage 'no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes'. Only half of that applied to me as I didn't wear waterproof trousers - thighs are still thawing out.

[chilly & wet emoticon]

Sook Sun 12-May-13 13:17:51

Good grief baubles that's practically a marathon grin though I do enjoy walking.

kitty your DH sounds very much like mine and mine is a Libran confused

Butty Sun 12-May-13 14:22:16

Soop Can't wait! xx

Early trip to local DIY/Garden store this morning for eight 70 litre bags of bark chippings and then rest of the day so far spent spreading them carefully around the plants, which are growing at last, in the raised bed which runs full width of garden, about 70' L x ' D x 2 H'.

Showered & changed now and about to go to Jamie's in Kingston for a meal with friends before going over to the Rose Theatre for the 'Loving Linda' (Smith) stand up comedy show in aid of cancer care/research.
Work life balance! grin

I have been recovering from a recurrence of that strange mystery virus that I get from time to time, often after a night out. It must be lack of sleep?? Anyway, lots of water and rest and I am back to "normal" now.

It is grey, wet and blowy here today, but maybe a quick walk along the quay will blow away the final cobwebs. Or not. Will ponder awhile.

Just read headlines in the local evening paper:
Two weeks rain, in one day, forecast for Devon and Cornwall on Tuesday...Noooo!Wish I'd stayed in Manchester now sad

hummingbird Mon 13-May-13 17:13:31

Today we completed our wonderful cycling trip, finishing in Vienna where we're staying for a couple of days. It was the best fun, and didn't cause me too many aches and pains - I am sporting a couple of multicoloured bruises on my legs, mind you! I have fallen in love with Austria, and must come back soon. You'd think I might be feeling a little trimmer, but maybe working off all that food and drink needed a bit more pedalling...

Ariadne Mon 13-May-13 17:48:17

Lovely day of busy-ness (etymologically interesting, that!) culminating in an early evening amble along the front at as the tide was thinking about coming in and the sun was shining on the water. Now a glass wine while I consider dinner....or not.

Tegan Mon 13-May-13 22:14:43

Working out the pro's and con's of retiring because I've had enough of my job [but feel very sad about it sad].

Ariadne Tue 14-May-13 09:42:26

Have done nothing so far apart from finishing the crossword and codeword, checking e mails and sitting here chatting to you lot checking GN. Must go and do something productive before my big Sainsburys order arrives...

Going to see Rich Hall tonight. I've only seen a few stand up comedians and been disappointed with all of them, but Rich Hall is a favourite of mine [I've loved the programmes he's made about America which have been shown on BBC4] so, even if he's not funny I can sit and gaze at him [I quite fancy him if I'm honest blush].

A brief domestic goddess moment! For once, when the last batch of clementines lay drying up in the fruit bowl, I actually prepared the clementine purée for Delia's cake, and froze it. And today I defrosted the purée and made the cake. It is delicious, so must freeze it quickly!
