Are we going to be seeing more of Charles and Camilla now the Queen seems to be scaling back her engagements?

I thought Camilla looked suitably regal at the State Opening of Parliament

gillybob Wed 08-May-13 17:02:33

Oh I do hope not merlogran smile

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 17:30:23

Thanks for that merlot, Camilla is looking better by the day , but then with all that money for grooming so she should .

I think it will be interesting when Philip goes , how the queen will cope ?

Ana Wed 08-May-13 17:32:35

Why are you presuming that Philip will go first, Nonu? Do you know something we don't...confused

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 17:41:14

No not really but he is quite a bit older than her , if she has her mothers genes , she will go on for a long time .

Ana Wed 08-May-13 17:55:07

Yes, I hadn't realised he was six years older - 93 in June!

merlotgran Wed 08-May-13 18:02:50

Interesting to see that two of the pages at the State Opening today were Princess Margaret's grandsons, Charles Armstrong-Jones and Arthur Chatto.

She is more accepted now and seems a fitting wife for Charlie. If he could have married her first off everyone could have been spared a lot of heartache.

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 18:26:52

But he wasn"t allowed as she was a divorcee .

Anyway queen mum & di"s grandma hatched a plan to put C and D together.

merlotgran Wed 08-May-13 18:31:53

Nonu, Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles on the rebound from Charles when he buggered off joined the Royal Navy. If he hadn't dithered about and married her Diana would not have appeared on the scene

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 18:33:13

Wrong, Wrong , Mrs N.

Camilla had a "past " and that was not allowed .

merlotgran Wed 08-May-13 18:36:58

She might not have been a blushing virgin but she was not a divorcee when she first got together with Charles.

Who is Mrs. N?

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 18:41:12

As I said she had a past , so was not considered suitable as a wife for Charles .

The wife of Mr N. wink

feetlebaum Wed 08-May-13 18:46:54

Everybody has a past of some kind...

Ariadne Wed 08-May-13 18:50:04

Really do not give a **.

Whatever one's opinions of Charles and Camilla, together or apart, now or in the past, they are lawfully married so what ever he becomes, Regent, King, she should take the spouse's appropriate title, do not know what the consort of a regent is called, but eventually she should be Queen.

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 19:05:03

But everyone has a past is not about to marry the future {he hopes] King of England .

annodomini Wed 08-May-13 19:26:44

King of what? United Kingdom, if you please, Nonu.

Ariadne Wed 08-May-13 19:30:39

anno grin. Mind you, if the Scots get independence, it might change. Can't speak for NI and Wales. I am married to a Scot, BTW. Might send him back! (not really!)

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 19:32:36

oooh , sorry miss , when i go to foreign shores , as i do for three months of the year .

Depending on my mood when I send P/C back I put either . England or UK , and do you know what , they always arrive .

Ariadne Wed 08-May-13 19:34:57

Of course they do, Nonu! But having lived with a Scot for 48 years, it still amazes me how touchy he can be on the subject!

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 19:36:17

I did not realise that the queen is known as the queen of the UK.

I always thought she was known as the queen of England , wonder if she knows?

Nonu Wed 08-May-13 19:41:27

I have been married to my English man for 42 &half years .

i know full well he would not want to be known as a U.K,er , how silly is that ?

Elegran Wed 08-May-13 19:47:34

I am sure she does, Nonu She lives in her Scottish residence at Holyrood when she visits Edinburgh, she opens her Scottish parliament, she has a set of Scottish regalia, and she knows all about her ancestors and her right to the throne in all the parts of the United Kingdom (a clue in the name there)

Her subjects may be ignorant of history, but she is not.
