He also needs to shut the whatsit up about homeopathy. If he wants to waste his money on that kind of thing, fine. Trying to influence the government re the NHS money they are currently wasting on keeping "homeopathic hospitals" open then absolutely not fine. He wants it to be a sacred cow, immune to the requirement for all other treatments that there is actually some evidence that they work.
Recent freedom of information request about what he has been talking to ministers about was refused.
But if he had any sense he would just step aside and let the popular young couple take over.

I don't think we can judge what happened between Charles / Diana/ Camilla/ Andrew Parker-Bowles. No one knows what goes on in a marriage and they are not the only people to have had extra-marital affairs. I agree Diana was a lamb to the slaughter but she and Charles were so mismatched it was bound to end in tears. Of course back in the day the general public wanted to believe it was a fairy tale - I think we have become more cynical (or realistic) since then.

I don't think Charles should step down to make way for William and Kate. I don't think they have shown any inclination for the role (or indeed for hard work, but that's another story). And I'm sure the Queen and Charles will want to protect William and Kate from having that level of responsibility while they are young (even though they're not actually that young). I think Diana's death understandably made them very protective towards the boys.

I've lost any respect I ever had for any of them but I still don't think we should judge them for their personal relationships. I think they're all pretty f****d up anyway but so are a lot of us.

Do you know, I think even I could cope with a "job" that kept me in the lap of luxury and in which, whenever I had to turn up for anything as part of my "duty", someone else organised all the details and got me there in wonderful carefree comfort.

With millions of us struggling along day to day, the elderly being left in hospital corridors, children going hungry, families unable to heat their homes (I could go on and on), this buffoon (Charles) actually thinks he lives in the real world and has the damned cheek to lecture US on how WE should behave.

Am I the only person to be really happy not to be part of the Royal Family? No amount of "luxury" is worth it. No wonder Chelsey (sp?) gave up on Harry. Day after day being dragged round factories, hospitals and schools, with every move being commented on and every outfit taken apart and criticised. No privacy when you get home either with the staff knowing what you ate, what you argued about and whether you resorted to seperate beds AGAIN. And, once a year, the ineffable joy of the Royal Variety Performance - or perhaps you could just pull your own head off.

Royal piles do you think?

They get well-compensated for the inconveniences that would drive most people bonkers. (Many of them are bonkers, of course). They could always abdicate if it were so unbearable. Funny how so few do. Can't be so very bad worrying about your privacy (if they do) instead of having to worry about where your next meal is coming from and how the children are going to ever be able to get to school, or whether this baby will die of malaria as well as the other two

The trouble is that the British public are subjected to royalist propaganda constantly on the TV.

The BBC is supposed to be an apolitical organisation that presents information impartially. The issue of monarchy is a political one but the BBC certainly doesn't take a neutral stance on it.

The organisation Republic continues to challenge the BBC about its lack of balanced coverage.
