Can anyone speak or able to translate Moldovan?

Can I just say how much I admire you for your support of this family and this charity. I do my tiny mite for other charities but never with a direct contact which for you must be so rewarding. Best wishes for a translation which will be the icing on your cake.

There are quite a few free online translation sites = you could try to find one that translates Moldovan

My son had a friend with a Moldovan girlfriend - I'll see if he's still in touch with them and perhaps she could translate it.

Thanks annsixty for your lovely words. Yes, it is so rewarding to have our 'adopted' daughter and grandchildren (sadly dad left a while ago) who are so very grateful for everything that we send. Moldova is a one of the poorest countries in Eastern Europe but the people retain their pride. The children have to learn to look after each other while the parents work from sunrise to sunset for pathetic wages. At Christmas we send things like biscuits, chocolate, fragranced soap, pretty bits of jewellery, toys etc - all things that we take for granted but are luxuries for our family. If you google CR2EE you can learn more.
Sunseeker I will look into the online translation sites to see how they work. The letter is about a page and a half of A4 paper typed in a medium sized font so it will take quite a while to type it into a site but well worth considering.

Deedah your post came in while I was replying to Sunseeker and Annesixty - thank you also for your suggestion - if your son is still in touch with the Moldovan lady I would love to send her a photocopy of the letter and a stamped address envelope for her to send the reply.
I can't imagine it will be very technical as the writer is only 14 years old - probably just a little of what they are doing at school etc.
We have worked out little bits like her big brother is in the army (his photograph is a clue ) and also little brother is 7 years old but it would be lovely to be able to see what it says in its entirety!

This posting can only highlight the amazing scope of the world of Gransnet!
When I originally posted the request I really didn't think anything would come of it except for the obvious on-line translation sites. They are fine and I thank those who did suggest them but to be honest it would have taken me ages to type in each Moldovan sentence in order for it to be translated!

My husband did try scanning it in and using a translater while we were waiting for my son to pick it up, but it came out with such big gaps that it was unintelligible.
It's a strange language though, a lot of it is very close to Italian but the rest of it is totally different. I believe there is a region of Romania where they still speak Latin so that's probably been an influence. At least they don't use the Cyrillic alphabet now!

I am grateful for small mercies as far as Cyrillic is concerned!
