Am i too old at 59 to learn to play the clarinet? My sons think the idea is hilarious!!

Marelli Mon 13-May-13 18:03:56

Have a lovely holiday, Nonu! smile
And grannygreyhips - you just go for it! You are a mere child - I can vouch for that because I've seen you - and I can imagine you 'giving it laldy' with the clarinet! smile

Nonu Mon 13-May-13 18:38:10

Ella {sunshine] to you also .

hilda I know , have been there before , only thing it is all I.T. so not that many attractions .
Still when i think of what else I am going to see , in the other states , feel quite goose -bumpy . [daft bat ] oops nearly said old again .

if we don"t have a laugh what are we going to do eh !

HildaW Mon 13-May-13 19:17:07

Aha!.....so your flying into Denver! Its one of the more friendly airports in the US as far as I'm concerned. If I never see Atlanta again it will be too soon!

Ariadne Mon 13-May-13 19:24:37

Love Colorado! Enjoy every minute, Nonu.

Enviousamerican Mon 13-May-13 19:24:59

HilaW,Atlanta is too big for its own good.I can imagine the airport is a nightmare!

ps Mon 13-May-13 19:43:23

Grannygreyhips Never leave until tomorrow what you can do today, because if you do it today and like it - you can do it again tomorrow! Go for it because at 59 you are still a youngster in this day and age and show your sons what ambition really is.

Nonu Mon 13-May-13 19:45:15

Agree about Atlanta , so frustrating that the luggage went one way , you went the other and then had to sort oF "meet".

Ariadne ---- thanks , I will .

HildaW Mon 13-May-13 21:07:51

Yes Nonu - we nearly did not make it.....took a wrong turn and found ourselves out of the secure area....so had to go through security again!! I was a basket case by the time I was sat on plane. Result was a 3 day migraine. Swore never again....but having seen the repeat of the programe 'Mississippi' am sort of mellowing.

Grannygreyhips Mon 13-May-13 21:12:37

Oooh Nonu not sure when, this week, you're off but from the sound of all these good wishes, it must be soon. So, have a fabulous time and resist the food, well, some of it smile Not sure either how long you're away for - you'll be missed but enjoy yourselves and have a safe trip. flowers

Nonu Mon 13-May-13 23:11:13

I'm a bit late Nonu, you have already gone but have a great time. Sounds as if you are already in the mood with being 'good', an Americanism which has spread over here!

Don't bother about fitting GN into your schedule, just have fun and tell us all about it when you come back.

Go for it Grannygreyhips. I asked about re-learning the piano locally and they practically hoiked me in the door - age was no barrier! I've not yet taken them up on it though! We have a dancer in our Pilates group and she is looking into running a dancing class for 'older people'. She's done it in London but hopes to do it locally near our Pilates studio. Sounds a fantastic idea to me. I'm the oldest person in our Pilates group but am not made to feel any different which gives me confidence in myself. So do what you fancy doing and you'll probably get a lovely surprise. I think it really is a question of confidence. If, however, you don't feel comfortable you can always leave and find somewhere or something else to try.
