... getting ready & thinking through my 3 min slot in 2 hours time telling Local Authority Chief Exec & 'partners' (I hate that word) that the Volunteers they could be using may look like old grannies but are so much more than the official 3 day course training them for this particular volunteer role (as Restorative justice facilitators).

What are you avoiding by going on Gransnet?

She probably wasn't programmed to respond in that area.

Maybe she didn't know, gadabout, though she ought to. I think the reason is that BP that is outside what is considered the normal range can be an indication that something needs to be investigated – lots of ill-health conditions will result in a low or high BP. Similarly, too much or too little weight, or speedy weight loss/gain, can indicate other problems. It's just a way of checking that you are ticking over correctly.

Gadabout, smile

Thanks Shysal. Story of my life. I've often decided to have a change from doing tough things & to do something that doesn't cause a stir & had similar results - even hitting the front page of the local rag!
I've also noticed how asking even simple questions can be a political act - like yesterday on a 6 mth hospital check-up I dared to ask the nurse , very politely, why they always weighed you & took your BP as both seemed pointless for my condition (a sore gum problem not involving surgery or pills). She answered, "Because we always do" so when I said "But why?" I really got the stroppy cold shoulder.

Well done Gadaboutgran, glad it went well. You really did start something on here didn't you!

Well, well, well! Just been alerted by a nice PM to what writing a quick post unleashed. It's often the seemingly innocuous posts that seem to trigger the biggest storms.
Just in case anyone wants to know. I got there in time, I'd got organised with my bullet points in my bag - except when I got there I found they weren't (later found on floor at home) so spoke off the cuff & made an impact & was pleased I hadn't lost my knack when it came to it.

dustyangel Mine's a V-fit. I purchased it from a friend for just £10. It does all manner of clever things: counts calories spent; time; distance; speed and pulse.

dustyangel Thu 16-May-13 17:24:24

Have you lot got proper bikes? #notherdiversion
I've been using a sittingdown one, i.e.the pedals with a real chair, at physio and it is so easy I dont think it's doing me much good.

soop Thu 16-May-13 17:09:34

You gotta laff, Stansgran

Stansgran Thu 16-May-13 17:04:46

Love it

soop Thu 16-May-13 16:57:35

Aka Thu 16-May-13 16:55:43

Flowerofthewest Thu 16-May-13 16:55:00

Thank you all for stroking my Missy! Can I join you on the naughty step.

Sel Thu 16-May-13 14:12:23

It's quite bemusing kitty Multiple conversations. T'was ever thus I suppose. Shift up on the step smile

kittylester Thu 16-May-13 13:56:07

I'm off to take that on-line dementia test because I'm am totally confused. Then, please, may I sit on the naughty step out of harm's way.

My real worry is that there seems to be a lot of sub-text that I know nothing about and, if I know nothing, heaven help anyone new who wanders into what they think is a light hearted thread. OK, I'm naive [or dim] and I don't read all the threads, but is there a suggestion that there is a conspiracy going on? confusedconfused

Thanks, Gagagran...Rory is a darling [when he's not whinging]. All very quiet on the house front. We've only had one viewing. The garden is looking grand. Would lift our spirits to have someone show interest. Never mind, what will be will be...smile

Marelli Thu 16-May-13 13:46:49

I think I'll lift the large bag of stuff for the charity shop and the knitted squares for my ongoing blanket-project from the handlebars of my exercise bike (hidden behind the door in the front room), and hop on it....but first I must finish off my cup of tea. I've just eaten rather a lot of goats' cheese as it was going out of date. Perhaps I'll get indigestion if I go on the bike just now, though hmm.......

Gagagran Thu 16-May-13 13:41:22

What a very handsome boy is Rory - a veritable Black Prince! You have done a wonderful job with him soop. Hope all goes well with your health issues and also with a buyer for your house coming along soon. flowers

soop Thu 16-May-13 13:26:12

Moved...as I start to pedal I ask myself, why? When I finish I know the answer...because it makes me feel good. When I go into hospital for more surgery, I hope to be fit enough to be discharged in next to no time. That's the plan...wink

Movedalot Thu 16-May-13 13:17:40

Just done that soop at the gym. I do feel better for it, honest, yes I do, really I do grin

soop Thu 16-May-13 13:03:31

I'm off for a spin on the exercise bike. Join me, jings?
