nanaej I think if you listen to the lyrics of some of the songs he wrote himself you might see RS in a different light. He really does seem to love his family and must have quite a strong personality to still be as fit and good at performing as he is.

I don't feel the same about all his marriages though! I did see him on TV described as knowing how to treat women which might be why so many have fallen for him. I'm hoping his current marriage will work as she seems nice and I think always goes on tour with him.

Do tell what you have read about him

Well you know I am a socialist as I have made no secret of that and he is a Tory supporter so I guess we would just disagree on too many things and not just his attitude to women. Not sure he does know how to 'treat women'.. though perhaps I am saying he won't know how to treat me, I like to be treated as a person!

Didn't know his politics, probably don't know much about him at all except that I like his singing and shows!

I read that Rachel Hunter dumped him and as he had always been the one to call time on his relationships it totally changed him. I do recall a photo of Rachel shouting at him and he was cowering they divorced not long after.
He certainly seems devoted to his family now.

Babs he said she dumped him in his biography, I think it really shattered him.

Went to his show when his son was very new and he had a photo of him dressed in Celtic kit blown up at the back of the stage. I am sure he is a family man.

I get the feeling that, like Mick Jagger [and David Bowie] he is a fantastic father [things I've read over the years]. I always thought Rachel Hunter looked a bit blokey even though I know she was a top model. I lose track of who's with who these days although the 'serial blonde marriers' always seem to start with either Britt Eckland or Patsy Kensit. Now they're getting a bit long in the tooth I wonder who has taken their place?

Movedalot I haven't read the autobiography yet! Next on my list. He said at the show he had 8 children the eldest is in her fifties - a result of Brighton beach.

Tegan I agree Rachel did look a bit blokey maybe because she was so statuesque.

RS and present Mrs Rs Penny Lancaster seem very happy together.

Did you see Coppelia moved? I noticed that it had been on recently.One ballet that I've always wanted to see[ since I read about it in The Bunty when I was little].

Yes Tegan we did. It is a lovely ballet, lots of fun and nothing deep. Actually most ballets have very weak plots if they have one at all! I always recommend those who are not really into ballet to avoid things like Swan Lake and Giselle as I think they might find them boring but a couple of weeks ago met a guy who had just got into ballet by seeing Swan Lake which hooked him.

If you do get a chance to go to Brum they are doing Penguin Café next season which is great fun and has a message about saving species too.

We go to see one performance of every show and book the subscription season so if you do plan to go let me know and perhaps we can meet again.

I will be waiting for your report on Warhorse later in the year!

I saw Coppelia in London though ballet is not really my favourite thing I did enjoy it.

We are booked to see Warhorse in September.

I booked the tickets so long ago I'm worried that we'll forget to go on the day; in fact it's October that we're going..even more time to forget . We've seen War Horse before but I've wanted to see it with my daughter so it'll be quite a special day as we haven't done anything like that together for years.

Babs lots of people think like that until they go, then discover it is not something you need to know lots about to enjoy. There are lots of really fun ballets, political ones, a few for those in the know and lots with no story at all just the sheer joy of dance. It is not like opera where it is advisable to know the story before you go, in ballet you usually get the gist because the plots are usually very simple.

Rod was wonderful and so were all his multi-talented musicians. One of them appeared to have attended the Reg Presley school of beauty and then he smiled and became so handsome!

I was sitting next to a young girl from London who had travelled up to Derby and then got the train from there, she had a great time.

Rod looked as if he was having a whale of a time too and admitted to not knowing all the words of one song they had added at the last minute so had to read them. He has a great sense of humour, at the end he put up a quote on the screen which was from Rolling Stone magazine and was something like "I don't want to be singing Do ya think I'm sexy when I'm 50 and making a fool of myself" and then sang it!

Lunchtime concert today of Elgar and Britten then Giselle again tonight!

Had a PM the other day from someone who seems to think I have a boring life!

Many people would love a life as "boring" as yours, me for a start!! Still working full time roll on July 2014 Retirement!

Glad you had a good time t Rod's concert. I got as far as Wembly Station to see Bruce Springsteen and got a phone call about a difficult situation so had to turn round and go home. Reviews and friends tell me it was the best!

Oh no poor you! I everything turned out OK for you such a pity about the concert.
