She has wonderful legs but I wish Kate Middleton (aka Duchess of Cambridge) would wear longer skirts and lower heels just now.

j08 Fri 14-Jun-13 22:54:46

I heard on the telly yesterday that the Duchess will spend the six weeks directly after the birth at her mum and dad's home in Bucklebury (bless). I wonder if the Queen will be popping over every now and then to get her share of hands-on with the new baby.

merlotgran Fri 14-Jun-13 22:59:39

I wonder if Prince Phillip will be well enough to see it? They're very tight lipped about what's wrong with him. Trooping the Colour tomorrow without him....A pattern is emerging. sad

Just seen Charles coming away from visiting him on the news. He seemed very cheerful. Said his dad was much better. smile

I suspect they are checking or operating on ca prostate?

laidback Fri 14-Jun-13 23:50:27

She's pretty and all that Kate, but what has she really achieved in her young life? Has she ever had a proper job and seen it thru? Now... she looks good, smiles a lot and shakes hands....I really wish she was a role model but is she just a trophy wife?

harrigran Fri 14-Jun-13 23:57:13

I thought that might be the case Galen.

HUNTERF Fri 14-Jun-13 23:59:44

I don't care what Kate wears. I just object to the so called royal family scrounging money off me.

Oh Frank do they come ringing your doorbell too ?

HUNTERF Sat 15-Jun-13 00:36:32

I think I should be put in charge of the country's finances.

Quite right, Frank, you would soon sort out the 'undeserving' poor!

JessM Sat 15-Jun-13 05:33:31

not to mention the undeserving rich.

mollie Sat 15-Jun-13 10:08:38

I think I read that Kate's expenses are paid for by Charles from his Duchy estates but I might be wrong... she's pretty good about buying High Street and 'off the peg' so I think Frank has little to complain about concerning Kate. I think I've seen complaints that she doesn't spend enough!

In an idle moment yesteday I did a trawl through Google images of Kate and there is far more leg showing since she's had a bump than before...I rest my case. As I've said before, she has great legs, looks good in a sack and looks happy and isn't having hysterics all over the place. My only niggle is that personally I'd prefer to see lower heels and hemlines...

Tegan Sat 15-Jun-13 10:17:34

I think she's a very good role model for young people. She does wear her clothes several times and along with La Beckham has done a lot of good for the British clothes industry [not that it needed a lot of help what with Stella McCartney et al]. My only concern with young women wearing 'normal' clothes during pregnancy is that you can only do that with a 'to die for' figure and most women aren't like that, so the one time when women didn't have to worry about their appearance is no more and they then have to get their figure back within 2 days [without all the help that celebs get at that time].

merlotgran Sat 15-Jun-13 10:46:34

It's too wet and windy to work outside today and the veggies don't need watering so I'm going to watch Trooping the Colour. It's high time I had a couch potato morning and I'm going to enjoy every minute. grin

j08 Sat 15-Jun-13 10:55:04

That is so unfair laidback. She's hardly been a good for nothing lay a bed all her young life! And she's taken on a role now that many others would never do! shock

Movedalot Sat 15-Jun-13 11:41:57

I think she needs all the support she can get, hers is a hard job! I would hate to be in the public eye not being able to please people whatever I did. Expected to please the old fogies and the young too, hasn't got a chance.

annodomini Sat 15-Jun-13 11:54:59

A 'trophy wife'? No! She is a young woman with a brain and she used it to get a degree - and a royal husband. If anything, William is a trophy husband!

mollie Sat 15-Jun-13 12:13:19

William, bless him, isn't exactly the brightest spark. I wonder what he'll do when he leaves the services. But he will be a good ambassador for his family and this country, more so than many of our 'wonderful' politicians (past and present) so he will have my support.

laidback Sat 15-Jun-13 12:28:03

Just saying...its only an opinion! William and Harry have soldier jobs and careers, but she wanted that role jo8 even waited for it!

Mishap Sat 15-Jun-13 12:39:03

She's young and beautiful and can wear what she likes as far as I am concerned - lucky lady seems to have avoided the dreaded varicose veins!!

merlotgran Sat 15-Jun-13 12:42:37

Hang on a mo, mollie. Not the brightest spark? My father, brother and nephew were all RAF pilots. You don't achieve a career like that by being dim.

annodomini Sat 15-Jun-13 13:26:34

And you don't get a degree from St Andrews by being thick. Well, speaking personally.... grin

Aka Sat 15-Jun-13 13:27:19

Plus a 2:1 Hons in Geography after spending four years studying at St Andrews University.

HUNTERF Sat 15-Jun-13 13:33:31

annodomini

Oddly I know several ladies who got a degree at Cardiff University without any problems.
They did however have problems with their driving tests.
One had to sit her test 11 times before she passed.
I thought driving was easier than getting a degree.
I passed my driving test first time a month after my 17th birthday.

Is there something logical I'm missing here?
