She has wonderful legs but I wish Kate Middleton (aka Duchess of Cambridge) would wear longer skirts and lower heels just now.

Bez Sat 15-Jun-13 13:48:25

I know people who have got a degree and cannot cook a meal or bake a cake - both of which I thought were easier than getting a degree!!! grin

Aka Sat 15-Jun-13 13:50:29

I think I've fallen down a rabbit hole hmm

j08 Sat 15-Jun-13 13:51:40

I know someone who has got a Cambridge degree, passed her driving test first time, and bakes excellent cakes. grin

So there.

j08 Sat 15-Jun-13 13:52:46

It's not me btw. #there'sasurprise

Aka Sat 15-Jun-13 13:55:08

I know someone without a degree, who cannot bake, cook or drive confused

Aka Sat 15-Jun-13 13:55:33

It's not me either!

mollie Sat 15-Jun-13 14:11:41

I take that back...even before I read comments I remembered that flying a helicopter takes a lot of skill so William didn't deserve that comment. I apologise William...

And I stand corrected regarding the subject of his degree - I thought it was art history. And before anyone tells me otherwise, I know any 2:1 honours degree is hard work because I gained one as a mature full time student in my 40s...

annodomini Sat 15-Jun-13 14:18:09

I took three attempts to pass my driving test. hmm

j08 Sat 15-Jun-13 14:27:06

It was Kate who took history of art.

Greatnan Sat 15-Jun-13 15:08:28

It took me three goes too , anno - if only it had been all theory and no practice! There are different kinds of intelligence - mine does not cover most practical subjects ( I can never remember which colour is earth in a plug).
The Queen did not have a formal education and I am not sure she is what might be termed intellectual, but she is pretty damn shrewd!

annodomini Sat 15-Jun-13 15:21:39

But now, Greatnan, I can vouch for the fact that you are a very good driver, the more hairpin bends the better. grin

Greatnan Sat 15-Jun-13 15:23:38

Thank you , anno, you can come back for a third experience next year!

Nelliemoser Sat 15-Jun-13 15:39:54

The poor Gel is going to have to be on her feet a lot when she is Queen. She ought to watch those high heels or she will have bunions and backache before she is 50! Particularly when she is pregnant. wink

Movedalot Sat 15-Jun-13 15:42:17

I don't have bunions and have always worn high heels! The secret is to get ones that are comfortable and fit properly.

gracesmum Sat 15-Jun-13 16:31:53

anno smile couldn't agree more.
Frank how patronising to say you know several ladies who got a degree without any problems - clearly they were bright.
Judging by some of the prats I saw on the roads today (including one who changed his mind - and it was a HE - as he turned down into the slip road at Jct14) passing a driving test is little indication of intellectual rigour.
Kate is an educated young woman with a good degree ffrom one of the UK's oldest universities , she has fitted in well to the royal family, is a good wife and wil probably be a great mother - why do people always have to snipe?

Greatnan Sat 15-Jun-13 16:37:05

She has a kind face and is good with children - I like her. I don't think it would be hard to fall in love with William - he seems to be a humorous and likeable young man. She has taken on a very difficult role - good luck to her.

HUNTERF Sat 15-Jun-13 17:03:48

Greatnan

All I am saying is people who want the Royal Family can pay for them and people like me who do not want them should not have to pay.
I have got an equivalent degree from one of the UK's oldest universities but some of the newer universities are equally as good.

Frank

Greatnan Sat 15-Jun-13 17:05:40

Er ....is the standard of your degree really relevant to this discussion? I didn't say I wanted the Royal Family, just that I liked this young woman.

annodomini Sat 15-Jun-13 17:10:05

Frank, I might equally say that people who don't want their taxes to pay for nuclear missiles shouldn't have to pay for them but unless or until hypothecated taxation becomes feasible, we are stuck with paying for things we don't approve of.

Movedalot Sat 15-Jun-13 17:36:44

I believe the royal family bring in a lot of tourist revenue don't they?

You remind me of when Margot went to pay her rates and told the guy behind the counter which bits she would pay grin

gracesmum Sat 15-Jun-13 18:27:47

anno only three attempts to pass your driving test? I passed on my sixth attempt blush. I do know people who are as thick as two short planks and they have past first time round.

Sook Sat 15-Jun-13 18:37:24

OOPS passed blush

numberplease Sat 15-Jun-13 18:58:03

My supervisor when I was working, passed on her 13th attempt! And she still had problems whenever she used a company car.

harrigran Sat 15-Jun-13 18:59:02

I passed first time, hopefully I am not as thick as two short planks grin
