On the radio 4 PM programme yesterday with Eddie Mair, I felt privileged to be interviewed by him, I have always admired the standard of his interviewing across all sectors, be it politicians, captains of industry or the public. I did that damn Australian thing of going up at the end of a sentence!

phoenix I've just listened to your interview - full of admiration for you and your brave spirit.

Beautiful piece. You were fantastic and wonderfully compossed. I did hear the follow up I think with Linda Smith's husband and how Jack's voicemail had gone, which is awful. I can quite understand your feelings and I do hope you can get a copy of those videos.

I hope your present job soon leads to a better one.

Hi Phoenix, I heard you on the radio without realising it was you. I admired you for speaking so movingly of Jack, without breaking down. It has stayed in my thoughts, and then I heard the message the next day that the recording had gone. So sorry.

Hope you can have get yourself a copy of the family video to keep for yourself, which you may feel able to watch someday. Don't suppose any of his friends have any video of him in more recent years on their phones?

Made me think of my Dad and hear his voice in my mind, so comforting and lovely. My sister has some video of him, and sometime I want to watch it back.

Best wishes in the job and hope things improve/or you get something better.

I also was inspired by Phoenix's story after eventually finding it on i-player but because I am a technophobe, also by accident found an interview by Eddie Mair a few days previously with the mother of a girl killed in the London bombings. If you can find it, it is as inspirational. We have some very strong and loving mothers amongst us and I feel very humble.

phoenix you are an inspirational lady. The interview was wonderful. Just listened to another one tonight - a lady who has a recording of her husband's laugh on a CD. He died forty years ago. Eddie Mair is brilliant, isn't he? He asks just the right questions, no platitudes, and always sounds so sincere. Hope your job gets better soon. flowers

Well spoken and very moving, Phoenix, so sorry to hear that you can no longer access Jack's voicemail. flowers
For those who wanted to know the outcome, it was revealed the following day towards the end of the PM programme.

It did work glass and thanks for saying where it is too. Phoenix you are too hard on yourself, all I heard was a very together person talking about something that is really interesting, and your reasoning behind it all made complete sense to me. I agree, very moving to hear you speak.

Well done, brave lady.

Thanks for the link, glass. I found this interview incredibly moving. I so much admire your attitude, phoenix, your philosophy of getting on with living when part of you must be irreparably broken. Is this the reason behind your forum name?

glassortwo Wed 19-Jun-13 13:09:33

grannyK hope it works smile

Grannyknot Wed 19-Jun-13 13:07:53

Just listened to your piece on iPlayer - you came across so well, very confidant and very moving. Strangely, yesterday before I read your thread, I found a few short videos on my pc of John talking and playing with a couple of the gc's taken just a few months before he died. I found them very comforting, if emotional. I do hope you manage to record Jack's phone message and also acquire the holiday video. flowers

Greatnan Wed 19-Jun-13 04:57:19

Damn - I can't get it here in Egypt, but I will listen on Catch-up when I get home. Congratulations, Phoenix.

I have just listened to your recording, phoenix. I didn't hear the 'up' bit at the end of the sentences, either. I was so taken by what you were saying. I have the greatest admiration for you. flowers xx

glassortwo Tue 18-Jun-13 22:15:11

I have wondered how things were going with you Phoenix, its great to see you back.

Its a fact that someone employed is much more employable, so dont let that hold you back, and the job came when you needed it and hopefully it has put you in a better place more able to take something that is closer to what you are looking for.

Love the description of your Manager. grin

Come back when you get chance. sunshine
