Andy Murray forgot his mum

With all the sad son/daughter relationship problems I read about on here (including my own), was it wrong of me to take some small comfort from the fact that Andy Murray forgot his mom when hugging friends and family after his win? My thought was - it's not just me then ! Obviously he was overcome, but she's been there throughout it all - felt a bit sorry for her.

And anyway, he was probably pretty soggy with sweat. Perhaps he didn't want to inflict that on them. Nuff said wink

We're not here to sit in judgment on their private personal lives.

Bit of padding needed, possibly.

Why do people wonder about who athletes hug? What the hell does it matter?

Bags Mon 08-Jul-13 08:38:26

Why?

Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler. Apparently they are "famous" Hollywood film stars. I had to ask the same question on Digital Spy, as I didn't know who they were either.

Re Andy Murray's mum, I wondered why he didn't hug his girlfriend?

Can somebody tell me who were the two men in jackets that the camera kept going to?They looked familiar, so assume they were actors. They got much more attention than David Cameron! I am not a film goer, nor do I read the celeb. magazines, so don't know the current faces.

Yes quite butty only the most insecure of mothers would be taking the hump at that point and I'm sure she is not that.

He can hug his mum any time and probably does. He doesn't have to hug her in front of the cameras. Plus he probably hardly knew what he was doing. Give the guy a break.

I did wonder why he did not got to his mum after his girlfriend. I am not a big tennis fan but I thought she was the one who previously coached and encouraged him over the years?

Don't look at this then, numberplease www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-KfEzIku8M&sns=tw

Sorry, all you tennis lovers, can`t stand it!

I've got a lot of housework to catch up on blush

It's only a game... (ducks)

Is it all over now then? Thank flipping goodness!

Fred Perry came from Stockport - its most only famous native. The new Social Services building beside the Town Hall is named 'Fred Perry House'.

That is well said Tegan !!!

Y'know what. Whatever the press makes of it, the majority of people in this country are rejoicing that a young man that wept openly before us last year has come back and won. It's the press that keeps going on about the 'British Win; not Joe public. I don't actually know where Fred Perry originated from but no ones going on about the fact that Scotland have never won Wimbledon before. There may be plenty of yobbish football fans out there but, when it comes to sport in general we are very fair in our amiration for great players whatever their nationality.

I wouldn't have cared two hoots. Plenty of time off camera to enjoy being with a son and his success. What a terrific achievement. What a great athlete.

Alex Salmond was there, waving a large Saltire. I'm sure he'll find a way of making political capital out of this triumph. Nothing if not an opportunist, is Salmond!

Andy Murray once wrapped himself in the Brazilian flag when England had a key match against them. He was quite outspoken in his anti English views. How quickly we forget.

KatyK Sun 07-Jul-13 20:03:41

Yes he was all over the place and probably didn't know what day it was but when Sue Barker interviewed him
she said 'you forgot your mum' and he said 'yes I did'. As I said it's my left out mum syndrome rearing it's ugly head again. No one else probably noticed !

JessM Sun 07-Jul-13 19:54:41

He was knackered, hot, dehydrated and stunned. An official had sent him off to hug people (photo ops). She probably had been to the loo.
Great sporting weekend folks. A Scotsman wins Wimbledon, The mainly Welsh British-and-Irish lions win the test series against Australia with a resounding win in the final match and Chris Froome (born in Kenya but now an honorary brit) in the lead representing Uk's "team Sky" in the Tour. Us Celts and colonials will let you English folk bask in the reflected glory grin

Hmm I did wonder! Everyone else had got their hug and surely his Mum was the prime mover all those years ago. She'd have been happy whatever though. Proud Mum moment!

sunseeker Sun 07-Jul-13 18:59:50

Perhaps she couldn't bear to watch and had stepped outside for a breather- don't know - didn't watch it. (what heresy!!!)

I don't think he forgot his Mum, she was not sitting in the players box as she usually does. I don't think he knew where she was sitting, she was with the Davis Cup Captain. Coz as Anno said she is the womens Fed Cup Captain. I don't think public displays of affection are top of that family list!! Follow Judymoo on twitter, she's ace, relentless promoter of tennis for kids and a cake addict! smile have a look.
