Are we going to get minute by minute updates today. Kate is in labour and there will be no news for perhaps hours give the girl some privacy. Every few minutes we are getting updates saying nothing. It's going to be a long day!

harrigran Mon 22-Jul-13 08:09:05

It is going to be a long day smile

vampirequeen Mon 22-Jul-13 08:11:45

Of course it will be minute by minute even though there won't actually be anything to report. We'll watch the postman arriving, flowers being delivered, people walking by....anything at all.

Ella46 Mon 22-Jul-13 08:18:04

I always watch Skye news, but whenever something (supposedly) newsworthy happens, they do go on and on and on.......ad infinitum, ad nauseum.....

grin I hope I got that right 'cos I only did French!

Nelliemoser Mon 22-Jul-13 08:22:06

My new laptop just flashed it up in the corner of the screen as breaking news. It did that last night with our win of "Le Tour."
I didn't know it had that facility, or how to switch it off!

shysal Mon 22-Jul-13 08:25:07

My first labour was over and done with in under an hour. I hope Kate's is quick, if only to spare us all the news coverage!

Nelliemoser Mon 22-Jul-13 08:25:42

I thought the long day bit with DD when she went in with No1. She delivered in 3hrs. before I was even starting to get anxious.

Galen Mon 22-Jul-13 08:28:20

It's my son's birthday today and I remember it being a very hot long day. 1882!

harrigran Mon 22-Jul-13 08:30:56

Gosh ! your son is old Galen grin

Nelliemoser Mon 22-Jul-13 08:33:00

Oh yes! So how old does that make Galen. wink

Aka Mon 22-Jul-13 08:36:46

Are you in the Guinness Book of Records?

Galen Mon 22-Jul-13 08:41:00

Lilygran Mon 22-Jul-13 09:04:48

DH likes to watch and surf all the international news broadcasts - there seems to be some global excitement. The Australian correspondent who was just interviewed on Today said they are more excited by the imminent birth than we are. Aussies out there may disagree? Hope she has a good experience and the baby does well. As I would wish for any woman in labour. But I shan't be watching the news bulletins!

Oldgreymare Mon 22-Jul-13 09:07:18

Galen smile

Well I'll bet Kate will NOT feature on 'One Born Every Minute'.

glammanana Mon 22-Jul-13 09:15:39

I've enjoyed each birth of my 3DCs I hope she does the same,DD had all hers within 2 hrs of starting labour (childbearing hips)according to midwife.best wishes to them

annodomini Mon 22-Jul-13 09:37:45

Now we know what the headlines will be about for the next week or ten days. Nothing about drought, earthquakes, conflict, crime...The world will come to a halt for this baby! There isn't even a test match until the end of next week.

Movedalot Mon 22-Jul-13 09:44:44

Doesn't bother me, don't watch daytime TV! I listen to R4 during the day which means headlines on the hour. I wish her well and am sure they won't let her be in too much pain.

Nonu Mon 22-Jul-13 09:44:50

Anno , and himself can"t wait !!!!!!!!!!!

Still he getting on with a few jobs here and there .sunshine

Gagagran Mon 22-Jul-13 09:45:30

I hope we all wish Kate well as she labours in this hot weather. (On second thoughts there is probably air-con in the Lindo Wing).

She looks very slender and definitely hasn't got "child-bearing hips" so it won't be easy for her, poor girl. It is quite an historic thing though to think we will have a Monarch and the next three heirs all alive at the same time.

merlotgran Mon 22-Jul-13 09:47:39

Today would have been my lovely Dad's birthday. Don't suppose there's any chance of a Prince Ken??? hmm

Nonu Mon 22-Jul-13 09:47:45

Meant cricket of course !!!!!!!!!!!

Laugh.

merlotgran Mon 22-Jul-13 09:57:53

Just been listening to the details of announcing the birth. It's quite a palarver. Apparently a hand written statement on Buck House notepaper is driven to the Palace and the news is then posted on an easel just inside the gates. This is protocol and they are anxious to avoid the news being leaked on Twitter.

How tempting for a nurse to fling open an upstairs window and yell, 'IT'S A BOY/GIRL' shock

petallus Mon 22-Jul-13 10:02:38

I'm mildly excited!

petallus Mon 22-Jul-13 10:03:20

Or even moderately excited.

Should I hate myself? [grin}

petallus Mon 22-Jul-13 10:03:44
