Are we going to get minute by minute updates today. Kate is in labour and there will be no news for perhaps hours give the girl some privacy. Every few minutes we are getting updates saying nothing. It's going to be a long day!

Laidback She would have been in and a had an elective CS by now if she had wanted one. Why does Buck house have to announce she is in labour? Do they still have to have a minister of state present to verify the child is not a substitute? grin

Tegan Mon 22-Jul-13 13:41:18

She wants a natural birth if possible [or so I've read]. I don't know why; I'm not a Royalist but [as I've said before] the fact that William is the same age as my son and my heart bled for him when he lost his mum, I just have a very deep fondness for him and, after the awful day of Diana's funeral I love to see him looking happy.

Is Kate too posh to push? Probably be a cesarean!grin

ginny Mon 22-Jul-13 12:02:26

I wish her well and hope she and the baby are both fine as I would for anyone. However I'm no more interested than I would be if some one else I had never met was having a baby, as thousands are today.

How can you be so excited about it when you don't know the people concerned and it will not affect your life in the least?

Also wonder why the newspapers have supplements of all the pictures taken during the pregnancy, baby pictures of all the royals and no doubt pictures of the new nose peeping out of a shawl. Do people actually keep and treasure them ?

I am more excited about my daughter picking up her new car in September.
The dealer has said that it may not be in for September 1st when the registration changes as it is not officially due in till the 7th September.
He did say at present cars are being delivered about 10 days early.
I would like the car to come by the 21st September because that is when the old car's MOT and service is due.

I'm mildly excited!

Just been listening to the details of announcing the birth. It's quite a palarver. Apparently a hand written statement on Buck House notepaper is driven to the Palace and the news is then posted on an easel just inside the gates. This is protocol and they are anxious to avoid the news being leaked on Twitter.

How tempting for a nurse to fling open an upstairs window and yell, 'IT'S A BOY/GIRL' shock

Nonu Mon 22-Jul-13 09:47:45

Meant cricket of course !!!!!!!!!!!

Laugh.

merlotgran Mon 22-Jul-13 09:47:39

Today would have been my lovely Dad's birthday. Don't suppose there's any chance of a Prince Ken??? hmm

Gagagran Mon 22-Jul-13 09:45:30

I hope we all wish Kate well as she labours in this hot weather. (On second thoughts there is probably air-con in the Lindo Wing).

She looks very slender and definitely hasn't got "child-bearing hips" so it won't be easy for her, poor girl. It is quite an historic thing though to think we will have a Monarch and the next three heirs all alive at the same time.

Nonu Mon 22-Jul-13 09:44:50

Anno , and himself can"t wait !!!!!!!!!!!

Still he getting on with a few jobs here and there .sunshine

Movedalot Mon 22-Jul-13 09:44:44

Doesn't bother me, don't watch daytime TV! I listen to R4 during the day which means headlines on the hour. I wish her well and am sure they won't let her be in too much pain.

annodomini Mon 22-Jul-13 09:37:45

Now we know what the headlines will be about for the next week or ten days. Nothing about drought, earthquakes, conflict, crime...The world will come to a halt for this baby! There isn't even a test match until the end of next week.

glammanana Mon 22-Jul-13 09:15:39

I've enjoyed each birth of my 3DCs I hope she does the same,DD had all hers within 2 hrs of starting labour (childbearing hips)according to midwife.best wishes to them

Oldgreymare Mon 22-Jul-13 09:07:18

Galen smile

Well I'll bet Kate will NOT feature on 'One Born Every Minute'.

Lilygran Mon 22-Jul-13 09:04:48

DH likes to watch and surf all the international news broadcasts - there seems to be some global excitement. The Australian correspondent who was just interviewed on Today said they are more excited by the imminent birth than we are. Aussies out there may disagree? Hope she has a good experience and the baby does well. As I would wish for any woman in labour. But I shan't be watching the news bulletins!
