My DD has just said I am grumpy. I am!!!!

Whats wrong with me, yes I feel I am a grump at the moment.

The smallest thing seems to send me off on a spiral and I feel that’s all I am doing is grumping about everything. A caller supposedly from my mobile provider got sent off with a flea in his ear yesterday asking questions about a phone I don’t use and how was I coping with my contract, surely information he should be privy to if he was who he said he was. I dont seem to have patience for anyone or anything.

Its not the school holidays as I have had a busy but satisfying week with DGS 7 and DGD 5.

Looking back I had times when I felt like this when I was pre menstrual.

I cant be bothered with myself, Gransnet or anything else at the moment.

I feel I am on a short fuse. sad

CelticRose I love your lyrical turn of phrase smile "Keeper of memories" had me thinking, that's me too in the last six years having lost my Mother & two brothers. A lovely title but not one I would have wanted. Oh the old bing bong..nerve racking wait to connect. Funny to think that was over 20years ago. Time truly does fly.

I'm tackling a mountain of paperwork in the heat today...to those feeling somewhat out of sorts and grumpy, hugs and flowers and hope the feelings lift soon.

Glass Good morning. You also avoiding hicework grin. I am amazed at the support and caring of GN members to each other. I always said that I would never again enter into a virtual room. Back in the day of first bing bong internet connection,
I was in the Virgin chat room when the news broke at about 1030pm of the death of Diana. We were rushing all night between CNN and chat. It later transpired that MI6 were there also - in the chat room I mean. So, GN is my new bf and - in the words of Agent Gracie Hart aka Miss Congeniality - "if anyone hurts my friends, I will shoot them". But not literally with a gun of course. The pen being mightier than the sword. The voice of the people is also a lot funnier. {{{{{hugs}}}}}}} right back at you - and apologies if this was not correct net-equette.

Stansgran I, too, have been searching for the antidote to prevent mozzie bites. I have to wear eye masks and full body armour under mozzie net in Med. countries otherwise it is a rush to A&E. Just been testing something I read a few weeks ago. Apparently, they are averse to the smell of raw onion. Whilst the dogs chase and kill the mozzies (honestly, I did not train them) the raw onion seems to work a treat. Only I don't just cut it up and put it in dish at side of bed, I smear it on the dogs and my pj's. Thank goodness we only have a short summer in this country.

celtic it does help knowing you have support and a huge shoulder here on Gn. That other slim carefree person is still there celtic you just have to give her space to surface again. {{{{hug}}}

CelticRose Thu 01-Aug-13 09:09:00

Just been reading the threads. Doesn`t it just make you feel better knowing you are not alone with grumpy syndrome. I am now the oldest member of the family and the keeper of memories. Where did that carefree, always cup full, unlined, no aches, natural blonde, no worries, person go? The downhill slalom started 6 years ago. Waiting for the hard landing. flowers to all.

PS forgot to mention "slim" and "tall" - but that might have been in a dream.

May I join in the grump? I too have cystitis and I have a horrible feeling that it is a precursor to kidney stones as I've had this twice before. I slept badly and I've been bitten on the neck ,not by a vampire but by some mozzie that came in because SOMEONE turned the light on before they drew the curtains last night. I think I've got the little b*** Nestling in my pillow. a lot of blood. The local building has started hammering again. The house looks as though we've been burgled and I'm off to collect the DGC on Saturday a two hour drive to the airport, 24 hours in an airport hotel and then reverse the lot. I emailed their mother to ask if the children had trainers with them. She didn't know!!! And furthermore she was busy doing her tax returns so she didn't want to know. So far I have bought 2 dressing gowns, two sets of pjs ,a weeks underwear and socks for each child in the full knowledge that their other GPs will send them with a suitcase of wet clothes (2 years ago) or dirty clothes(last year) and in the full knowledge that their parents do not pack for the English climate .
. The GP (medical sort) has just phoned back agreed with my self diagnosis and sounded so sympathetic I could have cried. Will have antibiotics tonight. All is not lost

A few bits....

Potassium Citrate solution knocks cystitus right out. All chemists will make up a bottle of PotCit for you. I keep a bottle in the fridge to swig at the first sign, it's magic.

I usually get really bad grumps after some issue or other (usually family) has been resolved or at least moved on from. PBFGD? Post bloomin family grump disorder? grin

I watched the fabulous Marigold Hotel movie last night and just love the hotel owner's take on problems.....Everything will be alright in the end. If it isn't alright yet, you haven't quite got to the end smile

henetha Mon 29-Jul-13 21:47:52

Thanks for the hug, glassortwo. That's lovely. I hate feeling like this, don't you? Yes, we can't change things so I suppose it's a case of putting up with it and hoping things will improve. And there are people with much worse problems, I keep reminding myself.
Maybe we will both feel better tomorrow??? I hope so.
(((hug for you too)))
smile

Babs1952 Mon 29-Jul-13 21:13:34

Not sure about nicer kittygrin No idea why I chose Babs as my name on here I just fancied it!

I am fine at the moment thanks but I do get my moments. hmm

kittylester Mon 29-Jul-13 19:39:43

Do you need a (((hug))) Babs? That name freaks me out as it was my dad's pet name for my mum, though she would be Babs1924 and I bet you are much nicer!! grin

Babs1952 Mon 29-Jul-13 19:37:21

glassortwo Mon 29-Jul-13 10:37:46

gaga I was sure I would be at the Drs this morning but feeling so much better I cant believe it, hope you pick up soon.

henetha sorry you are feeling down and fed up, family problems are a nightmare arn't they, some of my grumps are down to family but its not going to change so I suppose its a case of grin and bear it, but I hope your problems can be put right. {{{hug}}}

henetha Mon 29-Jul-13 10:23:53

Sorry, glassortwo. Are you any brighter today? I do sympathise, - not that I am feeling particularly grumpy; more like twisted up and anxious and unable to sort myself out (family problems, feeling guilty, etc.).
Fed up .... fed up..... fed up......

Gagagran Mon 29-Jul-13 10:01:49

Hello Glass from a fellow cystitis sufferer. I went on a coach trip in the mega-heat last Tuesday and got dehydrated. Sure enough by Wednesday the familiar symptoms were there and despite drinking lots of water and trying to convince myself that it was improving, despite all the evidence, by Friday I had given in and went to the Drs.

I am now starting day 4 of antibiotic and feeling better but not back to normal quite yet. I have 5 days supply and have been told to go back to the surgery if not 100% then. So I will. It is such a miserable condition and never seems to strike at a convenient time.

Hope you soon feel better Glass. flowers

glassortwo Mon 29-Jul-13 09:44:20

Good morning sneezy grin Oh dear just noticed I cant spell either! wink
I am drinking loads but need to go down to the next village later and I am wondering if thats a goood move, but if its raining another puddle might go un-noticed wink

kittylester Mon 29-Jul-13 09:40:59

Oh, cystitis is very 'lowering' - loads of water at least a glassortwo grin

If you are feeling a bit better is it ok for me to say that when I see this heading I want to say 'and I'm sneezy'. My antihistamines were giving me an upset stomach so I've stopped taking them - hence the sneezes. grin

Oldgreymare Mon 29-Jul-13 08:19:33

Dear Glass, sorry about the grumps, bet you were 'sickening' for the wretched cystitis and short of fluids. Hope you feel better soon.
Lots of lovely helpful advice already given, here is a little bit more..... I work to the reward principle, and try to book a cut'n blow dry or a pedicure. Then I have something to look forward to. Both come with a mini massage (head and shoulders with the hairdo and legs and feet with the pedicure) and leave me feeling 'at peace' having forgotten the grumps!

janeainsworth Mon 29-Jul-13 08:05:07

oh cystitis is horrible - I used to get it a lot but since I've started drinking a lot more water (at least 3 large glasses a day + my usual brew + wine) I haven't had it at all. Bicarb is the best thing if you do get an attack.

glassortwo Mon 29-Jul-13 07:54:10

You are a lovely lot as super would say thank you. sunshine smile

I do feel brighter this morning as I am sat here in the quiet before the kids get up. Had a terrible bout of cistitis last night came on all of a sudden, but looking back yesterday morning I had all the indicators that it was on its way,DD googled what I could take as shops were all closed and came up with 1/2 tsp of bicarb 3 times a day on Bupa site so I gave it a go and it did take the pain away, so I need tocontinue to drink lots of water, looking back on Saturday I didnt drink much so I should know better.

Ella46 Mon 29-Jul-13 07:31:19

glass, I do hope you're feeling a little more sunny today. You seem to be always doing things for your family, so maybe try and slow down and do something for you.
A meet up with your gn friends will cheer you up too smile

Sending some ((((hugs))))

janeainsworth Mon 29-Jul-13 06:59:19

Glass Moomin 14th and 15th both perfect for me - how about you too, Gilly?
Hope you're feeling better today Glasssunshine

kittylester Mon 29-Jul-13 05:11:18

numberplease Sun 28-Jul-13 23:40:47

Glass, you`ve cheered me up a few times, so I hate to think of you feeling grumpy and out of sorts, hope you`re soon back to your usual self xx

glass You need a break. Is there any chance that you and the lovely Mr glass can get away for a weekend? I don't mean a weekend working on the house; I mean a weekend being wined and dined and generally pampered and spoiled. Carers need time off too.

How is the New Zealand fund? We are looking forward to seeing you.
