Glowering clouds here, (is there such a word?)
Off to fetch the GC later, train to Halifax changing in Manchester, methinks a brolly might be needed!

Good morning everyone, a bit blustery here, and cooler. Odds and ends day today, catching up with things not done during the heat. Enjoy your days.

Good morning everyone - sun and cloud this morning but thankfully. Bit cooler. Have emptied the ironing basket and am about to start baking scones - need lots for a local cricket match next week so will start today and freeze them. Also need to do a couple of cakes as friends with three hungry teenagers coming in a couple of weeks!!

4pm here in Beijing. Feeling knackered today as I have been up since 2.30am helping DD with her 10 day old baby. He had a bit of a moan last night and then eventually fell asleep on me so I didn't dare move him. DD was sent back to bed as I reckon she needs her sleep more than me. 4 yr old in school this morning and then we all tried to nap but it is just so hot. PLEASE can you send us some rain to clear this polluted air.

tiggy I do sympathise, it's lovely and cool here today. I'm delighted!

Off soon to tidy round for my dil, and I'm expecting chaos as they had a busy weekend hmm

Bit changeable here, I'm crossing my fingers that it will settle into a sunny day, then I can drive the car with the roof down!

(That is assuming I can manoeuvre it off the drive blush )

Nonu Mon 29-Jul-13 10:21:30

Good morning ,
Sunny and warm here, I am sooo enjoying my Summer !!

Good luck with car Phoenix.

Ella46 Mon 29-Jul-13 10:22:12

Have you decided what you're doing with it yet P?

Anne58 Mon 29-Jul-13 10:29:20

I'm going to give it a go and see how I feel after a week or two. It seems only fair really.

Good morning everyone, cool and breezy with grey skies full of rain. Almost five year old DG is in little madam mood this morning, give me boys any day, or is it that I am just used to them?

Galen Mon 29-Jul-13 11:00:58

Good luck Phoenix I find Mercedes very easy to drive.

Anne58 Mon 29-Jul-13 11:33:16

I am just having a quick look at the manual so that I know where everything is, lights, wipers etc.

Procrastinating? Nooo blush

kittylester Mon 29-Jul-13 11:42:30

East Midlands is very changeable this morning. Sunshine and showers!

This morning I've baked a cake and made a huge vat of lamb ragout (Nigella version) to eat tonight and to freeze!

Good luck phoenix but be careful not to drive too fast - this afternoon I'm going on my second blush speed awareness course.

Anne58 Mon 29-Jul-13 11:50:23

I think I'm likely to be crawling along at about 20 mph! Because it's so low, it feels as if it's going very fast.

LizG Mon 29-Jul-13 11:59:43

Thundering here. The sun was out when I cycled into town to have coffee with a friend then the heavens opened and I got soaked. Should have checked the Gransnet Bristol forecast before I went out.

Galen Mon 29-Jul-13 12:06:39

Thunder lightning rain. Wet!

Anne58 Mon 29-Jul-13 12:09:46

I was just about to sally forth but I can't find my shopping list..........blush

Galen Mon 29-Jul-13 12:12:18

Procrastination is the thief of time!

Anne58 Mon 29-Jul-13 12:15:05

Oh heck, I'm just going to have to get out there and drive it, aren't I?

Just give it another few minutes for the Kalms to kick in.............

Galen Mon 29-Jul-13 12:57:54

Go on. Do it!

hummingbird Mon 29-Jul-13 13:56:38

Go on, Phoenix, you can do it!

I'm looking after my two little ones today. All was going well - nice swim at local pool, freshly made scotch pancakes and scrambled egg for lunch, when George, my exceedingly grumpy cat, gave the three year old a nasty scratch on his cheek! Hysteria only calmed by the promise of a trip to the old-fashioned sweet shop! Anyone know of a daft fool kind soul looking for a new cat??? smile

Thunder and lightning and torrential rain in Brum

Ella46 Mon 29-Jul-13 14:35:13

I just went into Knutsford, as I drove into the car park and got my ticket, it started to rain.
45mins later I was wading through a river and I was saturated from head to toe, literally, my shoes were full of water!
Drove home (10mins) to blazing sunshine! $%£!!%£>@@* angry angry

KatyK Mon 29-Jul-13 14:50:08

It's unbelievable. Just as I had typed thunder, lightning and rain in Brum,
the sun came out.
