I just finished off the last one, so here we go again!

gracesmum Thu 05-Sept-13 22:29:46

Tried the local Boots and 2 others, Kingston and central MK - none had any. I'm afraid we get our milk in old fashioned glass bottles - would that do? Have compromised with a plastic food carton (No I won't be using it for food again!!) When DH came out of hospital he was given a handful of the disposable "cardboard" sort - but we gave them to the Health Centre as he didn't need them, Now who can I visit in hospital...........
I like the idea of the stylised jug, Galen - personalised even?

Galen Thu 05-Sept-13 22:59:47

Try amazon!

Ana Thu 05-Sept-13 23:03:18

Innocent orange juice bottles are good - wide neck! OH has one in the car for emergencies (his COPD affects his ability to 'hold it in'!).

My last post proves that I do need a new brain, just a shame the gp can't prescribe one [from]

Hope you had a peaceful night gm

Lovely, proud gran moment Ariadne

whenim64 Fri 06-Sept-13 07:33:24

Ariadne glad you like Simon Armitage. He's a lovely man. He and his dad were probation officers at the Oldham office nearby, and we all watched Simon's progress with great interest, especially as his early poetry included a lot about the people he met through his work. smile

Nelliemoser Fri 06-Sept-13 08:00:22

Galen do you recommend it should be sterilised before or after he has used it? wink

graces do you not have anything like these disabled persons equipment places near you? Or have you looked on line?

Galen Fri 06-Sept-13 08:04:48

hmm

Zengran Fri 06-Sept-13 08:21:11

Hope your husband is feeling much better today gracesmum and that you are being easy on yourself flowers

moomin Fri 06-Sept-13 08:23:47

gracesmum - just read this thread, hope your DH is much better this morning and that you managed to have a peaceful night flowers

Nelliemoser Fri 06-Sept-13 08:29:47

Flipping Heck! After missing a hospital trip on Monday by thinking the appointment was on Tuesday I have just realised the Geology trip I thought was on Saturday is on Sunday. I am so glad I didn't travel over to Leicestershire on the wrong day. It was seeing the date on GN posts that got me thinking
I just cannot seem to get my head in gear lately. confused

Sook Fri 06-Sept-13 08:40:59

Nellie Oh dear! I have had a week of losing things (not just my marbles) It makes me think that I am really losing the plot. confused

Sook Fri 06-Sept-13 08:42:43

gracesmum hope you got a good nights sleep and Mr gm is feeling much better this morning.

Ariadne Fri 06-Sept-13 08:52:37

How are you today, GM? Hope you managed some sleep, and how is Mr GM today? Maybe today will bring some sunshine, if only the virtual sort!

harrigran Fri 06-Sept-13 11:04:34

Thinking of you this morning gracesmum flowers

gracesmum Fri 06-Sept-13 11:39:39

Well I decamped to the spare room in the hope of some sleep, only to be summoned at 5 am (so a good 4 hours) as the plastic "pot" was nearly full! Napped thereafter and then thought I had better rouse self, shower, wash hair etc in case of further action today. He is a bit more compos mentis, still not eating or mobilising - a crawl to the loo - but temp has remained down, BP is OK and despite feeling nauseous, no more vomiting. If labyrinthitis hadn't been ruled out once before I might wonder if that has anything to do with it, but the vomiting was pretty drastic so either a "bug" /food poisoning or similar, I suppose. District Nurse should come out today and I have asked for a blood test in case of low HB (has happened before) although when I rang the doctor this morning she was a bit dismissive of that likelihood!! She will of course be right, but clearly does not know DH and his myriad complications!!!. Not a lot of sunshine this morning is there? I fear it may be the "curse" of DD and SIL who have a knack of sabotaging the weather wherever they go - they went to France in the Spring - COLD and WET! Wales last Autumn - yes you've guessed. Today they are due to complete on a holiday house they have bought in Somerset, so that's the end of summer. sadThank you all for good wishes !

janeainsworth Fri 06-Sept-13 12:03:41

Only just read all this Gracesmum but best wishes and flowers from me too.

Nonu Fri 06-Sept-13 17:33:14

Had a very scrumptious day , DD came round at nine, had a good old chinwag , the three of us , plus breakie .

They then went off to fix the trellis outside her house , which the weight of the climbing plants had pulled down . Tried to fix her leaking toilet , no joy , so admitted defeat and called in the plumber . Shouls have in the first place . But Hey, what do I know ?

They then came back and we had lunch together , and yet another chinwag. Mr N went off for a power nap , DD went into town , I carried on with a rather good book I in the middle of at the moment.

I am now on G/N for a while , doesn't really get better .

Positive Karma to you all .

smile

Granite work tops installed! They're coming next week to measure for the white Carrara marble bits between the upper cupboards and work tops. It's going to look lovely (I hope)
Take out curry tonight with Gary (Gardner) and Kate (cleaner) they're good friends as well as employees.
It's been a lovely day here today and Gary is having to water outside.
Still can't wait though for my Black Sea cruise. Only just over 2/52 to go!smilesunshine

Just waved my visitors off for the next few days. They are travelling to France for a week. What an easy couple to have to stay. They've treated me to a few meals out, enjoyed taking my dog for a walk in the park, so chatty and friendly, and they brought an album full of photos and information about their bit of the family tree for me. They have loved visiting beauty spots and small towns and villages around here. It'll be nice to have them back before they return to Canada.

Lona Fri 06-Sept-13 18:39:08

That's nice when, there's nothing worse than visitors who just sit there and want entertaining and waiting on.
Sounds like you all enjoyed the company smile

Stansgran Fri 06-Sept-13 19:09:30

Galen I am so envious. That I think is the one we were planning to do but somehow it's transmogrified into thehill tribes of northern Vietnam. Nothing to do with me.

Nelliemoser Fri 06-Sept-13 19:41:26

Gracesmum You sound like you are having a tough time. flowers

annodomini Fri 06-Sept-13 20:43:45

I opened a pack of raspberries which I'd bought today at Waitrose and noticed movement among the berries - a sleepy wasp which soon became a squashed wasp. So glad I didn't eat it... hmm

Enviousamerican Fri 06-Sept-13 21:26:01

Reading about raspberries made me realize i was hungry and remembered the frozen pkg. of mango I had let defrost in my fridge. Went to cut it open and saw in big red letters " keep frozen". I though"uh oh" and yep....I should of kept it frozen! grin
