Okay!!! The messages from so many lovely people have gone to my heart. My head has been over-ruled.
soop's kitchen is a cosy place. You lot are invited to drop in for a wee chat on whatever matter moves you.
Rory welcomes you with a purr. xxx
Know the feeling well, *Bez
A cup of tea and the feet up for 5 minutes would be good. Went to Ikea to look at a specific chair for my bedroom and for material for DGS bedroom - came back with : a sunbed (I know, it's the end of summer), a lampshade for DD because it has owls on it, a cuddly toy (yes, really - a panda), a laptop case to match my suitcase, a jar of orange and elderflower marmalade, a pull-along truck for DGS 'C' word present and a couple of storage files, but no chair or material. That's the story of my life......... Yum, very good flapjack Gaga - don't mind if I have a 2nd?
Soop - as you know, I am a great believer in what will be will be; perhaps they weren't the right people for your lovely wee hoose. Someone will be along soon or, perhaps you are meant to stay there?
Gally
I heard something on the radio about how much people spend on impulse purchases in the Ikea bargain bins. It's a goodly proportion of their total sales.
I am glad there is a brew here and some scones with jam and cream. It warm and cosy.
I can now sit and have a lovely chat, a good laugh and put the world to rights. My OH lacks any sense of humour for that. I am feeling in need a bit of good company.
Just made a quiche for our supper so brought one around. I will pop it into the fridge in case anyone fancies a slice for lunch tomorrow. Had a busy day on WI books today then am looking after 18 month old grandson for two days so may not be able to pop in for a while
Hello, All
I'm a new person. Joined today
I thought there might be a place to introduce myself, and say hello, but if there is, I can't find it. Boo, hoo.
Since this thread seems to be one of the most active, I've come here.
So, erhm, I'm just saying hello . . helloooo
I've only read back two pages, so I don't really know what's going on.
PS I'm not even a gran yet !
Just a very very excited expectant one.
Edit - crikey, I managed to do the bold / italicky thing okay !
Welcome Beryl - this is a very good place to start! We all like to come on this thread and pretend we are in soop's kitchen so you will find all sorts of chit chat and calorie free goodies! Hope you have a good imagination!
It's so exciting waiting for your first grandchild - and that excitement doesn't fade once the baby is here. Good luck and happy posting!
BerylBee welcome have a cup of tea or a scone in Soop's virtual kitchen.
When are you going to be a Gran. I joined about May last year and became a first time Gran to my lovely grandson at the end of September.
If you have been browsing you will see there is all sorts of stuff on here. From gardening, health relationships etc. Discussion can get a bit heated at times but for other things there is a lot of kindness and support.
It can get a bit addictive. Stick around and "lurk" for a bit to see what is happening. As well as a virtual cafe, and a virtual bar we also from time to time have virtual parties where virtual drink is consumed and unruly behaviour occurs. Yes there is some enjoyable silliness.
Welcome BB - it will be so exciting having the first of the next generation - lots of lovely cuddles ahead of you - don't they just smell so gorgeous! All mine are way past that stage but are still lovely!!
Hello Beryl Soop and anyone else in the kitchen, so glad there was a wee piece of apricot flapjack left, I've been looking forward to it all day!
I'm psyching myself up to watch the 'Bake up', you never know it might give me ideas as to what I can bring along tomorrow
Gosh, I've just come back online and have found these lovely messages.
Thank you to Gagagran, Nelliemoser, Bez & Oldgreymare for your welcomes.
I do so appreciate all of them.
My first
my first . . aargh, my first ! . . my head's still spinning
grandchild is due in February.
This will be the child of my son & his partner. (It's a much wanted baby - they've been trying for a while.)
BerylBee
Welcome to GN Beryl!
Welcome, BerylBee! But, just to clarify - are you the same *BerylBee who signed off as a "promiscuous tart" on the Sex thread?
Interesting!
Got the bold type wrong - sorry!
Hello,Ariadne
Yes, that was me - my third post on gransnet.
Tra la, high fives !
hello? don't you have different sides to you ?
Best wishes
BerylBee

Morning you lovely lot! Made too much French toast so here it is - help yourselves. There's some crispy bacon to go with it and maple syrup for those who like it.
Gagagran that's just what I fancied! How did you know? Thanks, will just help myself.......
Ariadne...spluttering coffee and shortbread all over the place!
BerylBee welcome to the kitchen for wacky, wonderful women...

Gaga Crispy bacon and maple syrup...
Stop it this minute. You're getting me into some naughty ways. However, as it's almost lunchtime, I'll indulge.
I've been for the morning hike around the village and stood in the wee shop for an age blethering...as you do.
Dead-headed lots of flowers and instructed Mr soop on which flora to dig for Bags to plant in her boggy brae. We're meeting in Lochgilphead tomorrow. You lot will be in charge of the kitchen. No bun fights allowed. Rory a tad nervous at the mo'.
Gally your photo on Facebook is lovely. Were you with your grandchildren at the time?
LizG Enjoy the time shared with your grandson. Tell us all about it when you return.
Nellie big hug from me
number ditto
Bez ditto ditto
Zengran Lovely to see you.
Just had such a compliment from DH - he is not a pasta lover at all but short of ideas and friends coming this evening decided to make it for lunch - did a sauce using shallots, mushrooms, garlic, smoked salmon and crème fraiche - he usually moans all the time while eating pasta - this time he told me it was the most delicious thing he has tasted for a long time!!!! Then asked if there was any more.
--- will take me the afternoon to recover! But I need to get on with the apple pie - will do a second one for everyone here as well - will pop it in later.
Soop not sure what a boggy brae is. (It's not a Scottish euphemism for something is it?)
Feeling VERY naughty today - must be the maple syrup.
Afternoon all! I'm late. Lost my shoes this morning and couldn't find them anywhere - I always blame J. I am positive his impish spirit is about moving things from a to b just to keep me on my toes! Anyway, I eventually, after much tearing of hair, crying and shouting, found them in the larder - as you do, so panic over and here I am. What's for lunch? Any of Bez's pasta left?
Soop the photo was taken on Saturday at a rather wild Golden Wedding lunch party
Will do some more Gally and bring it with me -
Popping in to let you know last time I was here I said I was taking summer back. It worked.
Since then we have have been enjoying lovely warm sunny days of around 20 - 24C and the nights have been around 10C instead of a chilly 2C. Very nice thanks, I knew none of you would mind, being used to cold, wet, miserable weather.
I might just have one of those custard tarts mmm my favourite, thanks when.
