gaga, the Boggy Brae is an accurate description of where I live! I love living there too smile

moomin Wed 28-Aug-13 17:33:44

Been gardening this aftie - the sun came out after lunch! Now it's into the real kitchen to prepare a mixed grill, ages since we had anything so naughty (i.e. lamb chops and bacon smile) so what the heck!

Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, creme fraiche and meringue for afters, plenty to share in the virtual kitchen, help yourselves grin

Hello, there, Zengran Lovely to meet you!

Beryl We all do (have different sides, that is) It may be that I lack your confidence in expressing them. You are clearly a woman of many parts, and I repeat my welcome. Here is a wine raised to you.

BerylBee Wed 28-Aug-13 20:54:33

Thank you, Ariadne.
Bez's pasta dish sounds delicious and a glass of red will just go nicely with it.
hic!

I am exhausted and only one day done. Fortunately OH helped out a huge amount with grandson and gave me several breaks during the day. I suppose that means he has gained a fair few brownie points. How on earth did I manage with my own babies?

Somebody mentioned some delicious flapjacks are there any more left? Don't think I dare drink wine with the flapjacks though. Two delicious things but not good together . . . Mind you, it is virtual smile

off to bed now, eyes won't stay open any longer. moon

Oh dear. I was so tired yesterday but couldn't get to sleep and then awake again at 5am. Anyone got a brilliant idea for switching the brain off at night? I think a huge mug of tea sounds like a good idea this morning, give coffee a miss. Hope you all enjoy your days.

Bez Thu 29-Aug-13 07:01:59

Being awake during the night is such a pain. I am often like that for no good reason that I can see and have yet to find a solution! Hope you can have a catch up nap sometime today. I M off to. The nurse in a few minutes to have a blood test taken.

Gagagran Thu 29-Aug-13 07:29:47

Liz you weren't alone in your poor night - I was up at 4.45am, achey and uncomfortable in bed and the brain was still motoring after choir last night. The person who invents as "off" switch when it's time to sleep will deserve a Nobel prize. (and I don't count, or take, sleeping pills!).

Insomnia is my normal state!
DGD and DD go home today. I shall miss them. Still at least they were here for what would have been DH's 70th birthday. DGD is still asleep. Hope she wakes before I leave for work.hmm

baubles Thu 29-Aug-13 08:27:32

My insomnia hasn't been just as bad the last week or so but last night was bad. I drop off ok but come 3.30 am the eyes ping open!

We are still visiting FIL in hospital four times a week which is exhausting as we go straight from work & aren't home till almost 9 pm.

Still, I've got a mug of coffee now & I'm at my desk ready for another day smile

Ariadne Thu 29-Aug-13 08:31:42

My last lot of family go home today - DS1, DDiL and my two little girls. I shall miss them very much; it has been a summer of family, sea and sun. I'm tired but in a good way.

Now off to GP to get results of knee x rays..bit worried. sad

thatbags Thu 29-Aug-13 08:38:58

Gally Thu 29-Aug-13 09:07:34

Gaga Galen Baubles and all other insomniacs - sympathy. I woke up 5 minutes ago after finally falling asleep about 4am. Soooo annoying.
Have a good blether today Bags and Soop. I will be staining the new garden shed - I live the high life grin

Nelliemoser Thu 29-Aug-13 09:20:44

I have been doing the early aching waking as well. I have resorted to getting up putting on my warm fleecy dressing gown and sitting on my recliner chair with a brew. I then read until I feel sleepy or the 3 am pain killers kick in. Lying in bed "trying to get back to sleep" does not help the mind gets over active. Its miserable.

glammanana Thu 29-Aug-13 09:30:03

Just looked in for a quick brew and hot toasted crumpet,I'm doing nothing to-day after a day in Liverpool yesterday with DD,I went ot pick the final bits for the wedding just some nice beads and earrings and we had a lovely lunch and girly chat.
I wanted some new pants for the Autumn but couldn't find what I wanted so decided to buy mr.g. a present of wallpaper for the lounge as I decided the one we put up a few months ago was "too red" so he was pleased I must say hmm still it keeps him out of mischief.grin

nanaej Thu 29-Aug-13 09:44:11

Anything stronger than tea available at this hour! I am recovering from a worrying dream I had in that time of dozing after waking too soon! The dream involved Duke of ED confused

whenim64 Thu 29-Aug-13 09:53:17

Ugh! You need a stiff drink for that nanaej! grin Here, put a drop of this whisky in your tea and try to forget! grin

nanaej Thu 29-Aug-13 09:57:34

Thank you..feeling better already! grin

annodomini Thu 29-Aug-13 10:14:42

Sympathy to all you insomniacs. I've never had that problem myself, but when I do wake up, the aches and pains are still there, when I get out of bed and have to move around. I think the reason I sleep well is that I don't move around a lot in my sleep. Have a good day, everyone. The sun is just breaking through here and the washing machine has just finished its job.

soop Thu 29-Aug-13 15:41:11

Hellooooooooooooooooooooo...^you lovely lot^ Glad to find the kitchen has been wrecked by a disorderly bun-fight.
Back from a mid-day blether with Bags in bonnie Lochgilphead. It was perfect. We had lunch in the Smiddy and she forced me to eat far too much and, when I said that I had no room for a sticky date slice, she nagged me ragged - 'til I eventually gave in wink We did say how lucky we are to have some special GN friends. smile
We had a wee browse in the Square Peg gift shop. We both used up all our spending money. grin
Mr soop took a photo. I shall add it within the next half hour.

soop Thu 29-Aug-13 15:58:33
