Keep singing Maniac - it's really good for you both physically and emotionally. The choir I'm in has only been going for a year and we did our first public performance last night with a paying audience! Proceeds in aid of the church hall renovation. The church was full and we all enjoyed it despite one or two mistakes! We had lots of nice complements too. Aah!

Just brought some confit duck legs and red currant jelly for anyone who hasn't had a main meal yet and is feeling hungry. Enjoy!

Soop said we could use her kitchen and we ALWAYS leave it pristine for her! I think Rory enjoys the company too.

Recently had some singing lessons- not planning to enter 'Britain's Got Talent' -just to improve my croaky voice-singing or speaking.
Living alone and growing older my voice doesn't get much exercise and has deteriorated considerably.
Teacher (from Hotwells) comes to my house,brings her keyboard and has set up a programme on CD of voice/ breathing exercises for me.
It's never too late to try something new!!

There was a dreadful noise coming from the direction of Rutland last night but I haven't seen any news reports of soop being picked up for having too good a time!

I've just put a joint of pork in for 5 hours in an attempt to make 'pulled pork' - if it works I'll bring some in. Anyone know what exactly pulled pork is?

Glad you have had a good time Nellimoser. Soop isn't back yet, but I don't think she will mind us borrowing her kitchen; hope not anyway. Will leave some just in case.

I made a tasty ginger trifle with ginger cake. It was easy to do and quick but seemed like a waste of ginger cake which I love.

Nellie there's nothing like it is there? and I don't mean the cake!

I haven't been for sometime. I have been off looking after my little grandson whilst DD is working and my SiL is away with work. Last two sessions tomorrow and Monday.

I have so enjoyed the hands on granny bit it was lovely bathing him on Thursday night he was very relaxed with me and we played silly games when he was in the bath. He turns one on Friday.
You grans will know what I mean! It's a really good feeling when you know your grandchild is comfortable with you. Trusts you when you go to collect him from nursery for the first time and when you realise yourself you can still have the confidence to do it. (Now I have learnt which way round a disposable nappy should go on!) I only usually get to see the little fellow every two weeks.

We have had a lovely time but I am tired. Its good to come over to this place of calm, sanity and kindness. I haven't been on here much lately too busy with said baby but some threads appear to have got bit rough.

I think I will have the Gingercake with my cup of tea tonight. I love lemon drizzle cake but a moist ginger cake seem more comforting.

Just got home after babysitting my two youngest gc, and the little one is very clingy with her mummy and daddy at the moment.
So I ended up rocking her to sleep after a lot of heartrending sobbing.

Just popped in to do a spot of dusting but see I need not have bothered, GN have been keeping an eye on things. Amazing there is a fresh pot of tea here despite Soop not being around. That's organisation for you!

Somehow aches and pains don't seem so bad in winter when there is an excuse to sit in front of the fire and do nothing. It is infuriating not to be able to go out walking in the lovely weather we have been having. After having neck pain all summer I have now been diagnosed with an inflamed facet joint!! It is not getting better but at least I know what it is. It is ok when I am sitting down so will get comfy in here and commiserate with other grans' aches and pains. Soop have a wonderful time with your family. So much to celebrate.

Yes please Elegran, that sounds very comforting. Soop, what a wonderful get-together for you and your family. There's nothing like it, is there? I'm missing mine, having been on holiday with half of them and then been to see my sister. So bring on the comfort food! Nellie, I seem to have missed something in my absence. What on earth are 'shoulder impingements'? I thought my sister and I had shoulder problems covered, but that's a new one!

Would anyone like a slice of date loaf? I made two to use up the eggs before going off to Arran. took one with me and wrapped the other in foil (should have taken both, the one I packed vanished in two days)

I have just found the second one and spread butter on a slice. Plenty for all, and no calories.

Nellie that was really kind and positive, thank you. I am trying hard with the breathing exercises. Your shoulder sounds painful, have you tried the heat treatment for a spot of relief. Have an enjoyable trip Soop, looking forward to your return already. We will have our kitchen 'bake off' then.
