Anyone else getting these calls

I no longer get the "silent" calls but now when I answer a recorded voice tells me my call cannot be taken at this time and to leave a message! I started off by politely asking them not to ring again but after the 5th one this week I feel like threatening to track them down and cut out their hearts angry

Mishap we used to get those calls years ago and I was told it was computer noise, data being transmitted - don't know if it is true

Used to get that intermittent beeping noise at work when someone tried to send a fax to the main number instead of the designated Fax No.

I had a new one this weekend. A cheery man called and said he was from the telephone preference service. He asked if we were still getting lots of calls from India but as I started to say that we now get many calls where the caller sounds more Malaysian or Chinese, he just talked over me, explained why the TPS cannot block calls from INDIA and that he was offering an enhanced service which would not accept any calls from INDIA. I tried to interrupt again to ask what this service would cost but he just carried on with his sales pitch and so I hung up when he started to ask if I could just confirm some details.

I am sure that I would have heard if such a system existed and that this was a scam of some sort. Anyone else had a similar call?

Yes, I had one a while ago. I kept talking to hear the price. The "service" would have cost a one-off £29.95. I said no thanks and hung up.
