Hi there to all who have switched the central heating on. It must be cold because I usually wear tee shirts around the house. I was freezing feet like ice blocks which is not me either. So am I the only one who is feeling the cold. Shoes and socks back on when out. Brr I am starting to feel warmer.let me know if you have switched on.hmm

Grace not amused by the usual quip in our house of "Throw another dog on the bed if you're cold" grin

Ariadne Tue 17-Sept-13 14:08:38

You just stop mentioning that "s" word, Greatnan! grin I know it's beautiful where you are, but I'd like it to stay there.

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 14:16:40

I am happy to keep it here -I didn't like snow when I lived in London!

whenim64 Tue 17-Sept-13 14:40:52

I'm looking forward to my visit next week, Greatnan, especially the thought of a thick duvet and view of mountains sprinkled with snow. Anno gave glowing reports of your hospitality - you might have to turf me out when the week is up. grin

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 15:39:24

Sh.....don't mention the 'S' word! grin

MiceElf Tue 17-Sept-13 15:41:58

It sounds lovely you two. BTW Whenim, I hope you've been in training for the past month, you wouldn't want to wuss out half way up a mountain, would you! grin

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 16:10:20

You are on my hit list, Micelf! I will get you out here sooner or later! I have some very gentle strolls on level paths planned for When!

whenim64 Tue 17-Sept-13 16:18:34

MiceElf I have a ten page contract that my lawyer has scrutunised. I have been guaranteed perfect weather, walks no longer than 1/2 kilometre, and Greatnan reassures me that all the mountains have paths with 1% inclines grin

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 16:21:23

grin

MiceElf Tue 17-Sept-13 16:25:22

Wow! I'm relieved. I had visions of you staging a sit in on the slopes and being without your union rep to negotiate. I hope you've got the lawyer to build in frequent wine breaks at some of those perfect little brasseries and logis that Greatnan has described in previous posts. She knows you know about them so she couldn't wriggle out!

whenim64 Tue 17-Sept-13 16:26:13

Natch!! grin

Our heating is on and, as DH and DS1 are off to the football tonight, I'm drawing all the curtains and hunkering down. Baked potato, lamb steak, peas and a nice wine. It's really dismal here.

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 17:06:55

Oh, Kitty, that is one of my favourite meals.
I have a nice box of rose ready for When - it cost me a whole €12 for three litres.

ninathenana Tue 17-Sept-13 17:36:19

My first admission that Autumn is here is a cardi on indoors (not there yet)
second the fire on first thing and in the evening, third heating goes on. Even then it's only morning and evening. Unless it's really cold. Not because I'm tight but because I'm quiet a warm person and the house holds the heat.

Stansgran Tue 17-Sept-13 17:51:19

I've ordered a selection of M&S thermal polo necked sweaters and I've bought a quilted gilet. I know it's going to be cold.

moomin Tue 17-Sept-13 17:55:45

Heating turned on just now for an hour, wanted to hold out until October but what the heck, we decided to live dangerously!

Been clearing out summer clothes and putting warmer ones into the wardrobe.

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 18:38:01

Does anybody have a partner who says 'You can't possibly be cold'?

kittylester Tue 17-Sept-13 18:41:37

Aren't they called men? grin

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 18:44:08

Mine was - although I could think of many other descriptions!
Why would anybody pretend to be cold if they weren't?

Grannyeggs Tue 17-Sept-13 18:45:06

I do have a partner that says just that,*greatnan*, we have disagreements as to whether or not the heating should be on that is up to now. He has called to say could I have the heating on when he gets home, and could I put the electric blanket on, he has Man flu!

Mamie Tue 17-Sept-13 18:49:12

Mine says, "well you might be warm enough, but I'm not...". Now sitting in front of the wood-burner, which is very nice.

Iam64 Tue 17-Sept-13 18:50:24

Mr Iam is always warm, and I have reynauds etc so am usually cold. We seem to manage though...

petallus Tue 17-Sept-13 18:52:37

I've just caved in and the central heating has gone on for the first time this autumn.

Ooh, lovely!
