I hope you will now find that instead of "living to work", you can work at living!! And I am sure Hattie will enjoy having Mum at home more - just think of all the time you can spend on Gransnet now!!! grin

Welcome to the world of the newly retired. I still rejoice at the thought of no longer being a slave to the alarm clock. wine

Thanks ladies!I still keep thinking I'm on holiday confused. I had to get up early this morning as it was a 'take granny to pre school' day. It was odd yesterday realising that I'd gone all day without talking to anyone and kept thinking that, without the internet [and gransnet in particular] I would be very isolated at times. When it's the school holidays I can have my grandson here for the day as well and we can go into town using my bus pass! Although I went with the younger grandson today to have his flu 'jab' [well, it was up his nose] and realised why the S.O. is always finding excuses to go into the chain of shops that he used to work for [I thought he was being silly]. Me, I now have to find excuses to go to the doctors confused. But it was so odd today being there on the other side of the counter, and my son phoned up yesterday wanting to know about holiday vaccinations and I couldn't really help him sad.

Welcome to the Best Days of your Life Tegan. When I retired, everyone told me that I would be bored stiff and miss working, but you know what? I have not missed work for a single minute and bored? I have far too much to do to be bored. Hope you get a spell of good autumn weather to enjoy for starters and then the joy of not having to be up and out early when the winter weather sets in.

Tegan Congratulations. I wish you happiness in this new stage of your life. flowers

I'm interested in your thoughts about the early days of retirement. I have six more months to work and am so looking forward to it whilst trying not to wish away my life.

It's dark and windy just now as I get ready to leave for work. I'm quite envy of all you retired people who can snuggle back down under the duvet until it gets light.

Enjoy! Especially the fact that you can do what you want with your days ( within reason!). Not getting up early on cold winter days is so wonderful. Reading all afternoon, on wet miserable days is great. Going out for a walk on sunny days when you would have been stuck inside at work. Hope you enjoy every day. X flowers

My DH said before we got up this morning "Isn't it nice not having to get up for work" and I agreed. We've been retired for 10+ years and it still feels great!

You will love it Tegan - wishing you a long and happy retirement. {wine]flowerssunshine

Congratulations Tegan. I am two years into retirement, and loving it. Yesterday, I went to see a pal who retired 2 months ago. She said she'd dreaded the idea of not working - but is absolutely loving every minute. Her memory is improving at 65, she's certain this is down to a less stressful life. Yes, welcome to the club - it's wonderful.
