....a whole pot of paperclips are joined together in a chain smile

My DGC visited with DD to feed the cats whilst we had couple of days away.

Well of course the patio window had the signature hand prints.
The ginger biscuits were no more
The lawn was covered in sand.
And the cats hadn't managed to munch their way through large heap of crunchiessmile.

We did miss our wee Honey buns!

Grandad's slippers have been hidden again - how long before he remembers that they usually turn up in the washing machine after dgd has been? grin

Norah Fri 11-Aug-17 21:09:58

Not a sweet or pudding left in the house.

Outtawork Fri 11-Aug-17 20:40:58

ditto the lego & my small coffee table is always upside down being used as a boat, also his brothers wallet was found in the toybox?

paddyann Fri 11-Aug-17 16:24:19

Every light in the house is on even when sunny outside. I once said " It's like Crystal Palace here" , which my DGDs found very funny and try to reproduce it every time they come Do I mind? Of course not ❤️

We try but....

rosequartz Wed 11-Nov-15 19:07:52

Oh, not such indelicacies as Snot in our house - they're 'snail trails'
We're posh here loopylou

rosequartz Wed 11-Nov-15 19:06:55

Sorry!

loopylou Wed 11-Nov-15 19:05:10

I was trying to be a little more delicate than DH's 'Snail Snot' roseq!

rosequartz Wed 11-Nov-15 19:01:46

nose-level smudges
DIL's sister calls them 'snail trails' grin

Or putting your bare foot on a hidden piece of Lego lurking in the carpet

loopylou Wed 11-Nov-15 18:56:53

It's the DGS nose-level smudges on the patio doors grin
Never fails to make me smile, along with toy cars fished out from under the sofa and 'drawings' in my work diary.

Luckygirl perhaps why our bidet is sitting in the attic unconnected to any water grin

Luckygirl Wed 11-Nov-15 18:41:10

The bidet tap is on! - my DGD loves the bidet and plays endlessly in it; she regards it as having been built just for her as it is at the right height for playing. But we always have to check that the tap is off after she leaves.

It's when you open a bottle of wine mid-week when you only normally have a drink on Friday and Saturday!
And you go to relax in the conservatory and find the floor is wall to wall with completed puzzles!

Whoops! Saw this in "discussions of the day" and didn't realise thread was an old one. blush

NanSue Wed 11-Nov-15 18:27:21

The dining room floor underneath the table is littered with food I don't even recognise, along with most of the play dough that was cleared away 5 minutes before dinner. The i pad is covered in sticky fingerprints and the Argos book opened on the page with the most expensive toy in the world with a note saying I would very much like this for Christmas please. Bless 'em smile

Cherrytree59 Wed 11-Nov-15 17:36:48

I have been enjoying all the anecdotes and can relate to most of it. Then I realised that this thread had started before I had any DGC!!

It's the tiny bits of Lego which DGS loved playing with when he came to stay - he kept complaining that bits were missing when he came to pack up to go home. I found them when I trod on them.

I tidy up as soon as the darlings have gone, put all the toys and games away and sit down with a cup of coffee. Over the next couple of hours I find: Lego bricks under the sofa, jigsaw pieces under the cushions, wet pants on bathroom floor, tractor under the table, hair clip and used plaster in sink, dolly's clothes on my bed, spare room duvets and pillows made into a den, empty fish food container beside pond, gravel all over the grass, unripe raspberries picked and discarded, apple cores in the recycling box, coat hanging up which will be needed in the morning, empty jelly wrapper in cupboard. And a precious cuddley which will be needed at bedtime.
Thank goodness they only live 5 minutes walk away.

At least the patio door is covered in smears so we don't walk into it when it's shut!

Lego under the sofa. Glitter on the table, floor, walls and ceiling (?). Large cardboard constructions made with egg boxes and loo rolls which have to be kept for "our next visit". The kitchen is covered in sprinkles from decorating the pop cakes. Play dough of various colours enhances the otherwise plain carpet. Toy soldiers hide in dark corners ready to spear my feet when I walk past. Greasy finger prints adorn my clean windows and kitchen cupboards in multiple patterns. Our entire collection of board games are scattered around the lounge, but best of all happy laughter rings in my ears....until I fall asleep exhausted among a huge selection of fluffy toys. Who would have it any other way grin

[grin ] Twice

Lovely to see Federer's twins yesterday - and now they have another set!

TwiceAsNice Mon 07-Jul-14 17:52:43

Just had mine to stay for the weekend with their mother and auntie( younger daughter ) Fridge so full of food I could hardly close it. They slept in the car on the way here hence didn't go to sleep until 1am due to excitement still up 6 hours later? What's for breakfast Granny? Shared bed following night with 2 wriggly 5 yea r olds can't have one without the other when they're twins Granny clinging to edge of king size bed all night!

Jelly with sweets in for tea, many trips to the park luckily just around the corner, kids tele has priority. Ham sandwiches for lunch, "I don't eat ham sandwiches any more only cheese". New sandpit bought and paddling pool and then it RAINED! House looks like a bomb dropped when they left then phone call from car on Aunties phone. DGD has left drawings behind so put them in an envelope and post them. Knackered but can't wait for next time I love them SO much.

rose grin

It takes twice as long to clear up as they actually spent with you. And, your Dh puts anything plastic in the toy box regardless of whether it is a toy or their favourite plate which you then can't find next time they come. confused
